Psalm 82
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment. 1God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah) 2“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering! 3Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked! 4Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble. 5They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.' 6I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you;
7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers." 7nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.”
8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations. 8Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!
