Psalm 82
NET Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleNew International Version
1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment. 1A psalm of Asaph. God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the "gods":
2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah) 2"How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?
3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering! 3Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked! 4Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble. 5"The 'gods' know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.' 6"I said, 'You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.'
7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers." 7But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler."
8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations. 8Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
