| 2For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. | 2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. |
| 3They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. | 3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. |
| 4They say, "Come on, let's annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more." | 4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. |
| 5Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. | 5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: |
| 6It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, | 6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; |
| 7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. | 7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; |
| 8Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot. (Selah) | 8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. |

| 15chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm. | 15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. |
| 16Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD. | 16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. |
| 17May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame! | 17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: |
| 18Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth. | 18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. |
