Psalm 77
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.1I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me!
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted.2When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted.
When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah.3I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help. Interlude
You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You don’t let me sleep. I am too distressed even to pray!
I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago.5I think of the good old days, long since ended,
I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders:6when my nights were filled with joyful songs. I search my soul and ponder the difference now.
Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again?7Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be kind to me?
Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?8Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises permanently failed?
Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah.9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the door on his compassion? Interlude
Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed."10And I said, “This is my fate; the Most High has turned his hand against me.”
I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.11But then I recall all you have done, O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.
I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.12They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.
Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God?13O God, your ways are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you?
You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.14You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.
You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.15By your strong arm, you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Interlude
The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled.16When the Red Sea saw you, O God, its waters looked and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths.
The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there.17The clouds poured down rain; the thunder rumbled in the sky. Your arrows of lightning flashed.
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.18Your thunder roared from the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world! The earth trembled and shook.
Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known.19Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters— a pathway no one knew was there!
You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led your people along that road like a flock of sheep, with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.
