KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.1I love you, LORD; you are my strength.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.2The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.3I called on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.4The ropes of death entangled me; floods of destruction swept over me.
The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.5The grave wrapped its ropes around me; death laid a trap in my path.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.6But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.
Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.7Then the earth quaked and trembled. The foundations of the mountains shook; they quaked because of his anger.
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.8Smoke poured from his nostrils; fierce flames leaped from his mouth. Glowing coals blazed forth from him.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.9He opened the heavens and came down; dark storm clouds were beneath his feet.
And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.10Mounted on a mighty angelic being, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.
He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.11He shrouded himself in darkness, veiling his approach with dark rain clouds.
At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.12Thick clouds shielded the brightness around him and rained down hail and burning coals.
The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.13The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded amid the hail and burning coals.
Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.14He shot his arrows and scattered his enemies; great bolts of lightning flashed, and they were confused.
Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.15Then at your command, O LORD, at the blast of your breath, the bottom of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were laid bare.
He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.16He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.17He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me.
They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.18They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the LORD supported me.
He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.19He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.
The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.20The LORD rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.21For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I have not turned from my God to follow evil.
For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.22I have followed all his regulations; I have never abandoned his decrees.
I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.23I am blameless before God; I have kept myself from sin.
Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.24The LORD rewarded me for doing right. He has seen my innocence.
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;25To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.
With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.26To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.
For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.27You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud.
For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.28You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.
For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.29In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.30God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?31For who is God except the LORD? Who but our God is a solid rock?
It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.32God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.
He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.33He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights.
He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.34He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow.
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.35You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.36You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.37I chased my enemies and caught them; I did not stop until they were conquered.
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.38I struck them down so they could not get up; they fell beneath my feet.
For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.39You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued my enemies under my feet.
Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.40You placed my foot on their necks. I have destroyed all who hated me.
They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.41They called for help, but no one came to their rescue. They even cried to the LORD, but he refused to answer.
Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.42I ground them as fine as dust in the wind. I swept them into the gutter like dirt.
Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.43You gave me victory over my accusers. You appointed me ruler over nations; people I don’t even know now serve me.
As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.44As soon as they hear of me, they submit; foreign nations cringe before me.
The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.45They all lose their courage and come trembling from their strongholds.
The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.46The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted!
It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.47He is the God who pays back those who harm me; he subdues the nations under me
He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.48and rescues me from my enemies. You hold me safe beyond the reach of my enemies; you save me from violent opponents.
Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.49For this, O LORD, I will praise you among the nations; I will sing praises to your name.
Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.50You give great victories to your king; you show unfailing love to your anointed, to David and all his descendants forever.
