Psalm 71
KJV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNET Bible
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.1In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated!
Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.2Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me!
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.3Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold.
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor!
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.5For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young.
By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.6I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually.
I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.7Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter.
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.8I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long.
Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.9Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me!
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,10For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise.
Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.11They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!"
O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.12O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me!
Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.13May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace!
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.14As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you.
My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.15I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent.
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.16I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone.
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.17O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds.
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.18Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power.
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!19Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you?
Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.20Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth!
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.21Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me!
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.22I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel!
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.23My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me!
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.24All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed.
