In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. | 1LORD, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced. |
Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. | 2In your justice, rescue and deliver me; listen closely to me and save me. |
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. | 3Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress. |
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. | 4Deliver me, my God, from the power of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and oppressive. |
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. | 5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth. |
By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. | 6I have leaned on you from birth; you took me from my mother's womb. My praise is always about you. |
I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. | 7I am like a miraculous sign to many, and you are my strong refuge. |
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. | 8My mouth is full of praise and honor to you all day long. |
Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. | 9Don't discard me in my old age. As my strength fails, do not abandon me. |
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, | 10For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together, |
Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. | 11saying, "God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, for there is no one to rescue him." |
O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. | 12God, do not be far from me; my God, hurry to help me. |
Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. | 13May my adversaries be disgraced and destroyed; may those who intend to harm me be covered with disgrace and humiliation. |
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. | 14But I will hope continually and will praise you more and more. |
My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. | 15My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up. |
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. | 16I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone. |
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. | 17God, you have taught me from my youth, and I still proclaim your wondrous works. |
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. | 18Even while I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, while I proclaim your power to another generation, your strength to all who are to come. |
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! | 19Your righteousness reaches the heights, God, you who have done great things; God, who is like you? |
Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. | 20You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but you will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth. |
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. | 21You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. |
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. | 22Therefore, I will praise you with a harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing to you with a lyre, Holy One of Israel. |
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. | 23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you because you have redeemed me. |
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. | 24Therefore, my tongue will proclaim your righteousness all day long, for those who intend to harm me will be disgraced and confounded. |
