Psalm 71
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be humiliated.1O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced.
Rescue and deliver me, because you are righteous. Turn your ear to me and save me.2Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free.
Be my sheltering refuge where I may go continuously; command my deliverance for you are my rock and fortress.3Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
My God, deliver me from the power of the wicked and the grasp of ruthless practicers of evil.4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors.
For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my security since I was young.5O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O LORD, from childhood.
I depended on you since birth, when you brought me from my mother's womb; I praise you continuously.6Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!
I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge.7My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.
My mouth is filled with your praise and your splendor daily.8That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.
Don't throw me away when I am old; do not abandon me when my strength fails.9And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing.
For my enemies talk against me; those who seek to kill me plot together10For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me.
and say, "God has abandoned him. Run after him and seize him, because there's no deliverer."11They say, “God has abandoned him. Let’s go and get him, for no one will help him now.”
God, do not be distant from me. My God, come quickly to help me.12O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me.
Let my adversaries be ashamed and consumed; let those who seek my destruction be covered with scorn and disgrace.13Bring disgrace and destruction on my accusers. Humiliate and shame those who want to harm me.
As for me, I will hope continuously and will praise you more and more.14But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more.
I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be. 15I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words.
Lord GOD, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone.16I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just.
God, you taught me from my youth, so I am still declaring your awesome deeds.17O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do.
Also, when I reach old age and have gray hair, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your power to this generation and your might to the next one.18Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
Your many righteous deeds, God, are great,19Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with you, O God?
God, who can compare to you, who caused me to experience troubles that were numerous and disastrous? You will return to revive me and lift me up from the depths of the earth.20You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.21You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.
I also will praise you with the harp; because of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the lyre— Holy One of Israel.22Then I will praise you with music on the harp, because you are faithful to your promises, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed.23I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me.
Moreover, my tongue will speak all day about your justice; for those who seek my destruction will be utterly humiliated.24I will tell about your righteous deeds all day long, for everyone who tried to hurt me has been shamed and humiliated.
