Psalm 71
ISV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionEnglish Standard Version
In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be humiliated.1In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame!
Rescue and deliver me, because you are righteous. Turn your ear to me and save me.2In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me!
Be my sheltering refuge where I may go continuously; command my deliverance for you are my rock and fortress.3Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
My God, deliver me from the power of the wicked and the grasp of ruthless practicers of evil.4Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.
For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my security since I was young.5For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth.
I depended on you since birth, when you brought me from my mother's womb; I praise you continuously.6Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you.
I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge.7I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge.
My mouth is filled with your praise and your splendor daily.8My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.
Don't throw me away when I am old; do not abandon me when my strength fails.9Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent.
For my enemies talk against me; those who seek to kill me plot together10For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together
and say, "God has abandoned him. Run after him and seize him, because there's no deliverer."11and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.”
God, do not be distant from me. My God, come quickly to help me.12O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!
Let my adversaries be ashamed and consumed; let those who seek my destruction be covered with scorn and disgrace.13May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt.
As for me, I will hope continuously and will praise you more and more.14But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.
I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be. 15My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge.
Lord GOD, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone.16With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone.
God, you taught me from my youth, so I am still declaring your awesome deeds.17O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
Also, when I reach old age and have gray hair, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your power to this generation and your might to the next one.18So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.
Your many righteous deeds, God, are great,19Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you?
God, who can compare to you, who caused me to experience troubles that were numerous and disastrous? You will return to revive me and lift me up from the depths of the earth.20You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again.
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.21You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.
I also will praise you with the harp; because of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the lyre— Holy One of Israel.22I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed.23My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.
Moreover, my tongue will speak all day about your justice; for those who seek my destruction will be utterly humiliated.24And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt.
