HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
For the choir director. Of the servant of the LORD, David, who spoke the words of this song to the LORD on the day the LORD rescued him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love You, LORD, my strength. 1I love you, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my mountain where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 2The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies. 3I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
The ropes of death were wrapped around me; the torrents of destruction terrified me. 4The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of destruction assailed me;
The ropes of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. 5the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.
I called to the LORD in my distress, and I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry to Him reached His ears. 6In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.
Then the earth shook and quaked; the foundations of the mountains trembled; they shook because He burned with anger. 7Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry.
Smoke rose from His nostrils, and consuming fire came from His mouth; coals were set ablaze by it. 8Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him.
He parted the heavens and came down, a dark cloud beneath His feet. 9He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet.
He rode on a cherub and flew, soaring on the wings of the wind. 10He rode on a cherub and flew; he came swiftly on the wings of the wind.
He made darkness His hiding place, dark storm clouds His canopy around Him. 11He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water.
From the radiance of His presence, His clouds swept onward with hail and blazing coals. 12Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds.
The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High projected His voice. 13The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire.
He shot His arrows and scattered them; He hurled lightning bolts and routed them. 14And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.
The depths of the sea became visible, the foundations of the world were exposed, at Your rebuke, LORD, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils. 15Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
He reached down from heaven and took hold of me; He pulled me out of deep waters. 16He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters.
He rescued me from my powerful enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me. 17He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.
They confronted me in the day of my distress, but the LORD was my support. 18They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support.
He brought me out to a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me. 19He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; He repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands. 20The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not turned from my God to wickedness. 21For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
Indeed, I have kept all His ordinances in mind and have not disregarded His statutes. 22For all his rules were before me, and his statutes I did not put away from me.
I was blameless toward Him and kept myself from sinning. 23I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt.
So the LORD repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. 24So the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.
With the faithful You prove Yourself faithful; with the blameless man You prove Yourself blameless; 25With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless;
with the pure You prove Yourself pure, but with the crooked You prove Yourself shrewd. 26with the purified you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.
For You rescue an afflicted people, but You humble those with haughty eyes. 27For you save a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down.
LORD, You light my lamp; my God illuminates my darkness. 28For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness.
With You I can attack a barrier, and with my God I can leap over a wall. 29For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.
God--His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. 30This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
For who is God besides Yahweh? And who is a rock? Only our God. 31For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?—
God--He clothes me with strength and makes my way perfect. 32the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and sets me securely on the heights. 33He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.
He trains my hands for war; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 34He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
You have given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your humility exalts me. 35You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.
You widen a place beneath me for my steps, and my ankles do not give way. 36You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.
I pursue my enemies and overtake them; I do not turn back until they are wiped out. 37I pursued my enemies and overtook them, and did not turn back till they were consumed.
I crush them, and they cannot get up; they fall beneath my feet. 38I thrust them through, so that they were not able to rise; they fell under my feet.
You have clothed me with strength for battle; You subdue my adversaries beneath me. 39For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.
You have made my enemies retreat before me; I annihilate those who hate me. 40You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and those who hated me I destroyed.
They cry for help, but there is no one to save them-- they cry to the LORD, but He does not answer them. 41They cried for help, but there was none to save; they cried to the LORD, but he did not answer them.
I pulverize them like dust before the wind; I trample them like mud in the streets. 42I beat them fine as dust before the wind; I cast them out like the mire of the streets.
You have freed me from the feuds among the people; You have appointed me the head of nations; a people I had not known serve me. 43You delivered me from strife with the people; you made me the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me.
Foreigners submit to me grudgingly; as soon as they hear, they obey me. 44As soon as they heard of me they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me.
Foreigners lose heart and come trembling from their fortifications. 45Foreigners lost heart and came trembling out of their fortresses.
The LORD lives--may my rock be praised! The God of my salvation is exalted. 46The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation—
God--He gives me vengeance and subdues peoples under me. 47the God who gave me vengeance and subdued peoples under me,
He frees me from my enemies. You exalt me above my adversaries; You rescue me from violent men. 48who rescued me from my enemies; yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me; you delivered me from the man of violence.
Therefore I will praise You, Yahweh, among the nations; I will sing about Your name. 49For this I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations, and sing to your name.
He gives great victories to His king; He shows loyalty to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever. 50Great salvation he brings to his king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and his offspring forever.
