On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.1Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,
Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.2and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”3When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no wine left."
And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”4Jesus replied, "Woman, why are you saying this to me? My time has not yet come."
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”5His mother told the servants, "Whatever he tells you, do it."
Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.6Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.7Jesus told the servants, "Fill the water jars with water." So they filled them up to the very top.
And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.8Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the head steward," and they did.
When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom9When the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom
and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”10and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the cheaper wine when the guests are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!"
This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.11Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, in Cana of Galilee. In this way he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.12After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.
The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.13Now the Jewish feast of Passover was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there.14He found in the temple courts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.
And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.15So he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple courts, with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”16To those who sold the doves he said, "Take these things away from here! Do not make my Father's house a marketplace!"
His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”17His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will devour me."
So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”18So then the Jewish leaders responded, "What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?"
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”19Jesus replied, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again."
The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?”20Then the Jewish leaders said to him, "This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and are you going to raise it up in three days?"
But he was speaking about the temple of his body.21But Jesus was speaking about the temple of his body.
When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.22So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the saying that Jesus had spoken.
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.23Now while Jesus was in Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.
But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people24But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.
and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.25He did not need anyone to testify about man, for he knew what was in man.
