Romans 2

1Therefore, you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judges; for while you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who are judgmental, do the same things. 2But we are sure that the judgment by God against those who commit such things is based upon truth. 3And, you, who judge them who do such things, while you do the same, do you think that you shall escape the judgment of God? 4Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, restraint, and patience; not realizing that the kindness of God is intended to lead you to repentance? 5But by your stubbornness and unrepentant heart, you store up for yourself wrath in the day of God’s wrath, when His righteous judgment shall be revealed, 6When He will render to every man according to his deeds: 7To those who by patient persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life; 8But those that are self-seeking or contentious, that reject the truth, and choose evil; they will know God’s indignation and wrath. 9There will be trouble and distress for every soul that does evil: for the Jew first, and then for the Gentile; 10But glory, honor, and peace, for everyone who does good, for the Jew first, and then for the Gentile.

11For God does not show favoritism. 12For as many as have sinned apart from the law shall also perish apart from the law; and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law 13For it is not those who hear the law, but those who obey the law, that shall be justified in God’s sight. 14For even the Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know right from wrong when they instinctively do right and naturally obey the things contained in the law; so that even they who do not have the law, are a law unto themselves; 15They demonstrate the working of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes condemning, and at other times, excusing, one another. 16And this is my gospel that I proclaim: that the day is coming when God shall judge everyone’s secret life by Jesus Christ.

17But if you called yourself a Jew, and trust in the law, and make your boast of God, 18And know His will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed by the law, 19And are confident that you yourself are a guide for the blind, a light for those in darkness, 20An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, who have the form of knowledge and of the truth embodied in the law - 21You, then, who teach others, do you not also teach yourself? You that preach a man should not steal, do you steal? 22You that say a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You that abhor idols, do you rob temples (commit sacrilege)? 23You that boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24It is no wonder that it is written in the Scriptures that “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” (Ezek.20:20 &27)

25For circumcision has value, if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision. 26Therefore, if those uncircumcised keep the requirements of the law, shall they not be counted (regarded) as though they were circumcised? 27And shall not those physically uncircumcised, but yet fulfill the law, judge you, who by the letter of the law and circumcision, transgress (violate) the law? 28For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; nor is circumcision merely outward and physical (in the flesh); 29But rather, he is a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, by the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.
