Blessed Be Yahweh, My Rock

לְדָוִ֨ד׀ (Of David).

1בָּ֘ר֤וּךְ (Blessed be) יְהוָ֨ה׀ (YHWH), צוּרִ֗י (my Rock)—

הַֽמְלַמֵּ֣ד (the One training) יָדַ֣י (my hands) לַקְרָ֑ב (for war),

אֶ֝צְבְּעוֹתַ֗י (my fingers) לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ (for battle)—

2  חַסְדִּ֥י (my steadfast One) וּמְצוּדָתִי֮ (and my fortress),

מִשְׂגַּבִּ֪י (my tower) וּֽמְפַלְטִ֫י (and my deliverer) לִ֥י (for me),

מָ֭גִנִּי (my shield) וּב֣וֹ (in whom) חָסִ֑יתִי (I take refuge),

הָרוֹדֵ֖ד (the One subduing) עַמִּ֣י (my people) תַחְתָּֽי׃ (under me).

3  יְֽהוָ֗ה (O YHWH) מָה־ (what is) אָ֭דָם (man) וַתֵּדָעֵ֑הוּ (that You take knowledge of him),

בֶּן־ (the son) אֱ֝נ֗וֹשׁ (of man) וַֽתְּחַשְּׁבֵֽהוּ׃ (that You think of him).

4  אָ֭דָם (Man) לַהֶ֣בֶל (a breath) דָּמָ֑ה (is like);

יָ֝מָ֗יו (his days) כְּצֵ֣ל (are like a shadow) עוֹבֵֽר׃ (passing by).

5  יְ֭הוָה (O YHWH), הַט־ (bend) שָׁמֶ֣יךָ (Your heavens) וְתֵרֵ֑ד (and come down);

גַּ֖ע (touch) בֶּהָרִ֣ים (the mountains), וְֽיֶעֱשָֽׁנוּ׃ (that they may smoke).

6  בְּר֣וֹק (Flash) בָּ֭רָק (lightning) וּתְפִיצֵ֑ם (and scatter them);

שְׁלַ֥ח (send forth) חִ֝צֶּ֗יךָ (Your arrows) וּתְהֻמֵּֽם׃ (and rout them).

7  שְׁלַ֥ח (Stretch out) יָדֶ֗יךָ (Your hand) מִמָּ֫ר֥וֹם (from on high);

פְּצֵ֣נִי (release me) וְ֭הַצִּילֵנִי (and deliver me) מִמַּ֣יִם (from the waters) רַבִּ֑ים (great),

מִ֝יַּ֗ד (from the hand) בְּנֵ֣י (of sons) נֵכָֽר׃ (of a foreigner),

8  אֲשֶׁ֣ר (whose) פִּ֭יהֶם (mouth) דִּבֶּר־ (has spoken) שָׁ֑וְא (emptiness),

וִֽ֝ימִינָ֗ם (and their right hand) יְמִ֣ין (is a right hand) שָֽׁקֶר׃ (of falsehood).

9  אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים (O God), שִׁ֣יר (a song) חָ֭דָשׁ (new) אָשִׁ֣ירָה (let me sing) לָּ֑ךְ (to You);

בְּנֵ֥בֶל (on a harp) עָ֝שׂ֗וֹר (of ten strings) אֲזַמְּרָה־ (I will make music) לָּֽךְ׃ (to You)—

10  הַנּוֹתֵ֥ן (the One giving) תְּשׁוּעָ֗ה (salvation) לַמְּלָ֫כִ֥ים (to kings),

הַ֭פּוֹצֶה (the One releasing) אֶת־ (-) דָּוִ֥ד (David) עַבְדּ֗וֹ (His servant) מֵחֶ֥רֶב (from the sword) רָעָֽה׃ (of evil).

11  פְּצֵ֥נִי (May You release me) וְהַצִּילֵנִי֮ (and snatch me)

מִיַּ֪ד (from the hand) בְּֽנֵי־ (of the sons) נֵ֫כָ֥ר (of a foreigner)—

אֲשֶׁ֣ר (whose) פִּ֭יהֶם (mouth) דִּבֶּר־ (speaks) שָׁ֑וְא (emptiness)

וִֽ֝ימִינָ֗ם (and their right hand) יְמִ֣ין (is a right hand) שָֽׁקֶר׃ (of deception)—

12  אֲשֶׁ֤ר (that) בָּנֵ֨ינוּ׀ (our sons may be) כִּנְטִעִים֮ (as plants)

מְגֻדָּלִ֪ים (grown up) בִּֽנְעוּרֵ֫יהֶ֥ם (in their youth),

בְּנוֹתֵ֥ינוּ (our daughters) כְזָוִיֹּ֑ת (like corner pillars)

מְ֝חֻטָּב֗וֹת (carved), תַּבְנִ֥ית (for the pattern) הֵיכָֽל׃ (of the palace),

13  מְזָוֵ֣ינוּ (our granaries) מְלֵאִים֮ (full),

מְפִיקִ֥ים (bringing out) מִזַּ֗ן (from kind) אֶ֫ל־ (to) זַ֥ן (kind),

צֹאונֵ֣נוּ (our flocks) מַ֭אֲלִיפוֹת (producing thousands),

מְרֻבָּב֗וֹת (being myriads) בְּחוּצוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ (in our fields),

14  אַלּוּפֵ֗ינוּ (our oxen) מְֽסֻבָּ֫לִ֥ים (carrying).

אֵֽין־ (Let there be no) פֶּ֭רֶץ (breach),

וְאֵ֣ין (and no) יוֹצֵ֑את (going forth),

וְאֵ֥ין (and no) צְ֝וָחָ֗ה (an outcry) בִּרְחֹבֹתֵֽינוּ׃ (in our wide streets).

15  אַשְׁרֵ֣י (Blessed are) הָ֭עָם (the people) שֶׁכָּ֣כָה (whom is thus) לּ֑וֹ (for them);

אַֽשְׁרֵ֥י (blessed are) הָ֝עָ֗ם (the people) שֶׁיֲהוָ֥ה (for whom YHWH) אֱלֹהָֽיו׃ (is God).
