I Stretch Out My Hands to You

מִזְמ֗וֹר (A Psalm) לְדָ֫וִ֥ד (of David).

1יְהוָ֤ה׀ (O YHWH), שְׁמַ֬ע (hear) תְּפִלָּתִ֗י (my prayer);

הַאֲזִ֥ינָה (give ear) אֶל־ (to) תַּחֲנוּנַ֑י (my supplications)!

בֶּאֱמֻנָתְךָ֥ (In Your faithfulness) עֲ֝נֵ֗נִי (answer me)— בְּצִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃ (in Your righteousness).

2  וְאַל־ (And do not) תָּב֣וֹא (enter) בְ֭מִשְׁפָּט (into judgment) אֶת־ (with) עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ (Your servant),

כִּ֤י (for) לֹֽא־ (not) יִצְדַּ֖ק (is righteous) לְפָנֶ֣יךָ (before Your face) כָל־ (anyone) חָֽי׃ (alive).

3  כִּ֥י (For) רָ֘דַ֤ף (has pursued) אוֹיֵ֨ב׀ (the enemy) נַפְשִׁ֗י (my soul);

דִּכָּ֣א (he has crushed) לָ֭אָרֶץ (to the ground) חַיָּתִ֑י (my life);

הוֹשִׁיבַ֥נִי (he has made me dwell) בְ֝מַחֲשַׁכִּ֗ים (in darkness)

כְּמֵתֵ֥י (like the dead) עוֹלָֽם׃ (of old).

4  וַתִּתְעַטֵּ֣ף (And has grown weak) עָלַ֣י (through me) רוּחִ֑י (my spirit);

בְּ֝תוֹכִ֗י (and within me) יִשְׁתּוֹמֵ֥ם (is desolate) לִבִּֽי׃ (my heart).

5  זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי (I remember) יָמִ֨ים׀ (the days) מִקֶּ֗דֶם (of antiquity);

הָגִ֥יתִי (I have meditated) בְכָל־ (on all) פָּעֳלֶ֑ךָ (Your deeds);

בְּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖ה (on the work) יָדֶ֣יךָ (of Your hands) אֲשׂוֹחֵֽחַ׃ (I muse).

6  פֵּרַ֣שְׂתִּי (I spread out) יָדַ֣י (my hands) אֵלֶ֑יךָ (to You);

נַפְשִׁ֓י׀ (my soul is) כְּאֶֽרֶץ־ (like a land) עֲיֵפָ֖ה (exhausted) לְךָ֣ (for You).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

7  מַ֘הֵ֤ר (hurry) עֲנֵ֨נִי׀ (to answer me), יְהוָה֮ (O YHWH);

כָּלְתָ֪ה (fails) ר֫וּחִ֥י (my spirit).

אַל־ (Do not) תַּסְתֵּ֣ר (hide) פָּנֶ֣יךָ (Your face) מִמֶּ֑נִּי (from me),

וְ֝נִמְשַׁ֗לְתִּי (or I would be likened) עִם־ (with) יֹ֥רְדֵי (those going down) בֽוֹר׃ (to the Pit).

8  הַשְׁמִ֘יעֵ֤נִי (Cause me to hear) בַבֹּ֨קֶר׀ (in the morning) חַסְדֶּךָ֮ (Your loving devotion),

כִּֽי־ (for) בְךָ֪ (in You) בָ֫טָ֥חְתִּי (do I trust).

הוֹדִיעֵ֗נִי (Make me to know) דֶּֽרֶךְ־ (the way) ז֥וּ (in which) אֵלֵ֑ךְ (I should walk),

כִּֽי־ (for) אֵ֝לֶיךָ (to You) נָשָׂ֥אתִי (I lift up) נַפְשִֽׁי׃ (my soul).

9  הַצִּילֵ֖נִי (Deliver me) מֵאֹיְבַ֥י׀ (from my enemies), יְהוָ֗ה (O YHWH);

אֵלֶ֥יךָ (in You) כִסִּֽתִי׃ (I have taken cover).

10  לַמְּדֵ֤נִי׀ (Teach me) לַֽעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to do) רְצוֹנֶךָ֮ (Your will),

כִּֽי־ (for) אַתָּ֪ה (You are) אֱל֫וֹהָ֥י (my God).

רוּחֲךָ֥ (Your Spirit) טוֹבָ֑ה (good); תַּ֝נְחֵ֗נִי (let lead me)

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (into the land) מִישֽׁוֹר׃ (of uprightness).

11  לְמַֽעַן־ (For the sake) שִׁמְךָ֣ (of Your name), יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH),

תְּחַיֵּ֑נִי (revive me);

בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֓׀ (in Your righteousness)

תוֹצִ֖יא (bring forth) מִצָּרָ֣ה (from distress) נַפְשִֽׁי׃ (my soul).

12  וּֽבְחַסְדְּךָ֮ (And in Your loving devotion)

תַּצְמִ֪ית (may You cut off) אֹ֫יְבָ֥י (my enemies),

וְֽ֭הַאֲבַדְתָּ (and destroy) כָּל־ (all) צֹרֲרֵ֣י (afflicting) נַפְשִׁ֑י (my soul),

כִּ֝֗י (for) אֲנִ֣י (I am) עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ (Your servant).
