A Prophecy against Gog

1  וַיְהִ֥י (And came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֵלַ֥י (to me), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2  בֶּן־ (Son) אָדָ֗ם (of man), שִׂ֤ים (set) פָּנֶ֙יךָ֙ (your face) אֶל־ (against) גּוֹג֙ (Gog), אֶ֣רֶץ (of the land) הַמָּג֔וֹג (of Magog), נְשִׂ֕יא (the prince) רֹ֖אשׁ (chief) מֶ֣שֶׁךְ (Meshech) וְתֻבָ֑ל (and Tubal), וְהִנָּבֵ֖א (and prophesy) עָלָֽיו׃ (against him). 3  וְאָ֣מַרְתָּ֔ (And say), כֹּ֥ה (thus) אָמַ֖ר (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH); הִנְנִ֤י (behold, I am) אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ (against you) גּ֔וֹג (O Gog), נְשִׂ֕יא (prince) רֹ֖אשׁ (chief) מֶ֥שֶׁךְ (of Meshech) וְתֻבָֽל׃ (and Tubal). 4  וְשׁ֣וֹבַבְתִּ֔יךָ (And I will turn you around), וְנָתַתִּ֥י (and I will put) חַחִ֖ים (hooks) בִּלְחָיֶ֑יךָ (in your jaws), וְהוֹצֵאתִי֩ (and I will bring out) אוֹתְךָ֨ (you) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) חֵילֶ֜ךָ (your army), סוּסִ֣ים (horses) וּפָרָשִׁ֗ים (and horsemen), לְבֻשֵׁ֤י (clothed) מִכְלוֹל֙ (in perfection) כֻּלָּ֔ם (all) קָהָ֥ל (a company) רָב֙ (great) צִנָּ֣ה (with bucklers) וּמָגֵ֔ן (and shields), תֹּפְשֵׂ֥י (handling) חֲרָב֖וֹת (swords); כֻּלָּֽם׃ (all of them). 5  פָּרַ֛ס (Persia), כּ֥וּשׁ (Cush), וּפ֖וּט (and Libya are) אִתָּ֑ם (with them) כֻּלָּ֖ם (all of them) מָגֵ֥ן (with shield) וְכוֹבָֽע׃ (and helmet); 6  גֹּ֚מֶר (Gomer), וְכָל־ (and all) אֲגַפֶּ֔יהָ (her troops); בֵּ֚ית (the house) תּֽוֹגַרְמָ֔ה (of Togarmah) יַרְכְּתֵ֥י (from the extremities), צָפ֖וֹן (of the north) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) אֲגַפָּ֑יו (his troops); עַמִּ֥ים (peoples) רַבִּ֖ים (many are) אִתָּֽךְ׃ (with you).

7  הִכֹּן֙ (Ready yourself), וְהָכֵ֣ן (and be ready) לְךָ֔ (yourself), אַתָּ֕ה (you) וְכָל־ (and all) קְהָלֶ֖ךָ (your company) הַנִּקְהָלִ֣ים (gathered) עָלֶ֑יךָ (around you) וְהָיִ֥יתָ (and be) לָהֶ֖ם (unto them) לְמִשְׁמָֽר׃ (as a guard). 8  מִיָּמִ֣ים (After days) רַבִּים֮ (many) תִּפָּקֵד֒ (you will be mustered); בְּאַחֲרִ֨ית (in the latter) הַשָּׁנִ֜ים (years) תָּב֣וֹא׀ (you will come) אֶל־ (into) אֶ֣רֶץ׀ (a land) מְשׁוֹבֶ֣בֶת (having returned) מֵחֶ֗רֶב (from the sword), מְקֻבֶּ֙צֶת֙ (having been gathered) מֵעַמִּ֣ים (from peoples), רַבִּ֔ים (many) עַ֚ל (upon) הָרֵ֣י (the mountains) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), אֲשֶׁר־ (which) הָי֥וּ (had been) לְחָרְבָּ֖ה (as a desolation); תָּמִ֑יד (continually) וְהִיא֙ (and it) מֵעַמִּ֣ים (from the nations), הוּצָ֔אָה (has been brought out) וְיָשְׁב֥וּ (and they will dwell) לָבֶ֖טַח (in safety) כֻּלָּֽם׃ (all of them). 9  וְעָלִ֙יתָ֙ (And you will come up) כַּשֹּׁאָ֣ה (like a storm), תָב֔וֹא (you will come in) כֶּעָנָ֛ן (like a cloud) לְכַסּ֥וֹת (to cover) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the land), תִּֽהְיֶ֑ה (-) אַתָּה֙ (you), וְכָל־ (and all) אֲגַפֶּ֔יךָ (your troops), וְעַמִּ֥ים (and peoples htm"> ( רַבִּ֖ים (many) אוֹתָֽךְ׃ס (with you).

10  כֹּ֥ה (Thus) אָמַ֖ר (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH) וְהָיָ֣ה׀ (and it will come to pass), בַּיּ֣וֹם (on the day) הַה֗וּא (that) יַעֲל֤וּ (will come up) דְבָרִים֙ (thoughts) עַל־ (upon) לְבָבֶ֔ךָ (your heart), וְחָשַׁבְתָּ֖ (and you will devise) מַחֲשֶׁ֥בֶת (a plan), רָעָֽה׃ (of evil). 11  וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ (And you will say), אֶֽעֱלֶה֙ (I will go up) עַל־ (against) אֶ֣רֶץ (a land) פְּרָז֔וֹת (of unwalled villages); אָבוֹא֙ (I will go in) הַשֹּׁ֣קְטִ֔ים (to those living quietly), יֹשְׁבֵ֖י (dwelling) לָבֶ֑טַח (in security), כֻּלָּ֗ם (all of them) יֹֽשְׁבִים֙ (dwelling) בְּאֵ֣ין (with no) חוֹמָ֔ה (walls), וּבְרִ֥יחַ (and bars) וּדְלָתַ֖יִם (and gates), אֵ֥ין (not) לָהֶֽם׃ (unto them). 12  לִשְׁלֹ֥ל (To draw out) שָׁלָ֖ל (the plunder), וְלָבֹ֣ז (and to prey on) בַּ֑ז (the prey); לְהָשִׁ֨יב (to stretch out) יָדְךָ֜ (your hand) עַל־ (against) חֳרָב֣וֹת (the desolate places) נוֹשָׁבֹ֗ת (now inhabited), וְאֶל־ (and against) עַם֙ (a people) מְאֻסָּ֣ף (gathered) מִגּוֹיִ֔ם (from the nations), עֹשֶׂה֙ (having gained) מִקְנֶ֣ה (livestock) וְקִנְיָ֔ן (and possessions), יֹשְׁבֵ֖י (dwelling) עַל־ (in) טַבּ֥וּר (the center) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (of the land).

13  שְׁבָ֡א (Sheba), וּ֠דְדָן (and Dedan), וְסֹחֲרֵ֨י (and the merchants) תַרְשִׁ֤ישׁ (of Tarshish), וְכָל־ (and all) כְּפִרֶ֙יהָ֙ (her villages) יֹאמְר֣וּ (will say) לְךָ֔ (to you) הֲלִשְׁלֹ֤ל (To draw out) שָׁלָל֙ (the plunder)? אַתָּ֣ה (You) בָ֔א (have come) הֲלָבֹ֥ז (to prey) בַּ֖ז (on prey)? הִקְהַ֣לְתָּ (Have you assembled) קְהָלֶ֑ךָ (your company) לָשֵׂ֣את׀ (to carry off) כֶּ֣סֶף (silver) וְזָהָ֗ב (and gold), לָקַ֙חַת֙ (to take away) מִקְנֶ֣ה (livestock) וְקִנְיָ֔ן (and goods), לִשְׁלֹ֖ל (to draw out) שָׁלָ֥ל (plunder)? גָּדֽוֹל׃ס (Great).

14  לָכֵן֙ (Therefore), הִנָּבֵ֣א (prophesy) בֶן־ (son) אָדָ֔ם (of man), וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ (and say) לְג֔וֹג (to Gog), כֹּ֥ה (thus) אָמַ֖ר (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH); הֲל֣וֹא׀ (will not) בַּיּ֣וֹם (on the day) הַה֗וּא (that) בְּשֶׁ֨בֶת (with the dwelling of) עַמִּ֧י (My people) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (Israel) לָבֶ֖טַח (in safety), תֵּדָֽע׃ (you know it). 15  וּבָ֤אתָ (And you will come) מִמְּקֽוֹמְךָ֙ (from your place) מִיַּרְכְּתֵ֣י (from the extremities), צָפ֔וֹן (of the north) אַתָּ֕ה (you), וְעַמִּ֥ים (and peoples) רַבִּ֖ים (many) אִתָּ֑ךְ (with you) רֹכְבֵ֤י (riding on) סוּסִים֙ (horses), כֻּלָּ֔ם (all of them) קָהָ֥ל (company), גָּד֖וֹל (great) וְחַ֥יִל (and an army); רָֽב׃ (numerous). 16  וְעָלִ֙יתָ֙ (And you will come up) עַל־ (against) עַמִּ֣י (My people) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (Israel), כֶּֽעָנָ֖ן (like a cloud) לְכַסּ֣וֹת (to cover) הָאָ֑רֶץ (the land); בְּאַחֲרִ֨ית (in the latter) הַיָּמִ֜ים (days), תִּֽהְיֶ֗ה (it will come to pass) וַהֲבִאוֹתִ֙יךָ֙ (that I will bring you) עַל־ (against) אַרְצִ֔י (My land), לְמַעַן֩ (so that) דַּ֨עַת (may know) הַגּוֹיִ֜ם (the nations) אֹתִ֗י (Me) בְּהִקָּדְשִׁ֥י (in My showing My holiness) בְךָ֛ (in you) לְעֵינֵיהֶ֖ם (before their eyes). גּֽוֹג׃ס (O Gog).

17  כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֞ר (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֗ה (YHWH); הַֽאַתָּה־ (Are you) ה֨וּא (he) אֲשֶׁר־ (of whom) דִּבַּ֜רְתִּי (I have spoken) בְּיָמִ֣ים (in days) קַדְמוֹנִ֗ים (former) בְּיַד֙ (by) עֲבָדַי֙ (My servants) נְבִיאֵ֣י (the prophets) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), הַֽנִּבְּאִ֛ים (those having prophesied) בַּיָּמִ֥ים (in the days) הָהֵ֖ם (those) שָׁנִ֑ים (for years) לְהָבִ֥יא (of My bringing) אֹתְךָ֖ (you) עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ס (against them). 18  וְהָיָ֣ה׀ (And it will come to pass) בַּיּ֣וֹם (day) הַה֗וּא (in that) בְּי֨וֹם (in the day) בּ֥וֹא (of the coming of) גוֹג֙ (Gog) עַל־ (against) אַדְמַ֣ת (the land) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), נְאֻ֖ם (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH), תַּעֲלֶ֥ה (will rise up) חֲמָתִ֖י (My fury) בְּאַפִּֽי׃ (of My nose).

19  וּבְקִנְאָתִ֥י (And in My zeal) בְאֵשׁ־ (and in the fire) עֶבְרָתִ֖י (of My wrath) דִּבַּ֑רְתִּי (I have spoken), אִם־ (if) לֹ֣א׀ (not) בַּיּ֣וֹם (in the day) הַה֗וּא (that) יִֽהְיֶה֙ (there will be) רַ֣עַשׁ (a shaking) גָּד֔וֹל (great) עַ֖ל (upon) אַדְמַ֥ת (the land) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel); 20  וְרָעֲשׁ֣וּ (and they will shake) מִפָּנַ֡י (before My face) דְּגֵ֣י (the fish) הַיָּם֩ (of the sea), וְע֨וֹף (and the birds) הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם (of the heavens), וְחַיַּ֣ת (and the beasts) הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה (of the field), וְכָל־ (and every) הָרֶ֙מֶשׂ֙ (the creeping thing) הָרֹמֵ֣שׂ (that creeps) עַל־ (upon) הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה (the earth), וְכֹל֙ (and every) הָֽאָדָ֔ם (man) אֲשֶׁ֖ר (who is) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵ֣י (the face), הָאֲדָמָ֑ה (of the earth), וְנֶהֶרְס֣וּ (and will be thrown down), הֶהָרִ֗ים (the mountains) וְנָֽפְלוּ֙ (and will fall), הַמַּדְרֵג֔וֹת (the steep places) וְכָל־ (and every) חוֹמָ֖ה (wall) לָאָ֥רֶץ (to the ground) תִּפּֽוֹל׃ (will fall).

21  וְקָרָ֨אתִי (And I will call for) עָלָ֤יו (against him) לְכָל־ (on all) הָרַי֙ (My mountains), חֶ֔רֶב (a sword) נְאֻ֖ם (a declaration) אֲדֹנָ֣י (of the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH); חֶ֥רֶב (and the sword) אִ֖ישׁ (of each man) בְּאָחִ֥יו (against his brother) תִּֽהְיֶֽה׃ (will be). 22  וְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּ֥י (And I will bring judgment) אִתּ֖וֹ (on him) בְּדֶ֣בֶר (with pestilence) וּבְדָ֑ם (and with blood); וְגֶ֣שֶׁם (and rain), שׁוֹטֵף֩ (flooding) וְאַבְנֵ֨י (and stones) אֶלְגָּבִ֜ישׁ (of hail), אֵ֣שׁ (fire), וְגָפְרִ֗ית (and brimstone). אַמְטִ֤יר (I will rain down) עָלָיו֙ (on him) וְעַל־ (and on) אֲגַפָּ֔יו (his troops), וְעַל־ (and on) עַמִּ֥ים (the peoples) רַבִּ֖ים (many) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who are) אִתּֽוֹ׃ (with him). 23  וְהִתְגַּדִּלְתִּי֙ (And I will magnify Myself), וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתִּ֔י (and will sanctify Myself); וְנ֣וֹדַעְתִּ֔י (and I will make Myself known) לְעֵינֵ֖י (before the eyes) גּוֹיִ֣ם (of nations), רַבִּ֑ים (many) וְיָדְע֖וּ (and they will know) כִּֽי־ (that) אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ס (YHWH).
