A song. For the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, | |
לְהַגִּ֣יד בַּבֹּ֣קֶר חַסְֽדֶּ֑ךָ וֶ֝אֱמֽוּנָתְךָ֗ בַּלֵּילֽוֹת׃ | to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, | proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, |
עֲֽלֵי־ עָ֭שׂוֹר וַעֲלֵי־ נָ֑בֶל עֲלֵ֖י הִגָּי֣וֹן בְּכִנּֽוֹר׃ | to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. | to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. |
כִּ֤י שִׂמַּחְתַּ֣נִי יְהוָ֣ה בְּפָעֳלֶ֑ךָ בְּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖י יָדֶ֣יךָ אֲרַנֵּֽן׃ | For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. | For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. |
מַה־ גָּדְל֣וּ מַעֲשֶׂ֣יךָ יְהוָ֑ה מְ֝אֹ֗ד עָמְק֥וּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep! | How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts! |
אִֽישׁ־ בַּ֭עַר לֹ֣א יֵדָ֑ע וּ֝כְסִ֗יל לֹא־ יָבִ֥ין אֶת־ זֹֽאת׃ | The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: | Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand, |
בִּפְרֹ֤חַ רְשָׁעִ֨ים ׀ כְּמ֥וֹ עֵ֗שֶׂב וַ֭יָּצִיצוּ כָּל־ פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָ֑וֶן לְהִשָּֽׁמְדָ֥ם עֲדֵי־ עַֽד׃ | that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; | that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. |
וְאַתָּ֥ה מָר֗וֹם לְעֹלָ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃ | but you, O LORD, are on high forever. | But you, LORD, are forever exalted. |
כִּ֤י הִנֵּ֪ה אֹיְבֶ֡יךָ ׀ יְֽהוָ֗ה כִּֽי־ הִנֵּ֣ה אֹיְבֶ֣יךָ יֹאבֵ֑דוּ יִ֝תְפָּרְד֗וּ כָּל־ פֹּ֥עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ | For behold, your enemies, O LORD, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered. | For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
וַתָּ֣רֶם כִּרְאֵ֣ים קַרְנִ֑י בַּ֝לֹּתִ֗י בְּשֶׁ֣מֶן רַעֲנָֽן׃ | But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil. | You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me. |
וַתַּבֵּ֥ט עֵינִ֗י בְּשׁ֫וּרָ֥י בַּקָּמִ֖ים עָלַ֥י מְרֵעִ֗ים תִּשְׁמַ֥עְנָה אָזְנָֽי׃ | My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants. | My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes. |
צַ֭דִּיק כַּתָּמָ֣ר יִפְרָ֑ח כְּאֶ֖רֶז בַּלְּבָנ֣וֹן יִשְׂגֶּֽה׃ | The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; |
שְׁ֭תוּלִים בְּבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה בְּחַצְר֖וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣ינוּ יַפְרִֽיחוּ׃ | They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God. | planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. |
ע֭וֹד יְנוּב֣וּן בְּשֵׂיבָ֑ה דְּשֵׁנִ֖ים וְרַֽעֲנַנִּ֣ים יִהְיֽוּ׃ | They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, | They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, |
לְ֭הַגִּיד כִּֽי־ יָשָׁ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה צ֝וּרִ֗י וְֽלֹא־ עלתה [עַוְלָ֥תָה] (בּֽוֹ׃) | to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. | proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” |
