Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any inner affections and compassions, So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
fulfill my joy so that you⁺ may be of the same mind, having the same love, united in soul, minding the one thing, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
nothing according to self-interest or according to vain conceit, but in humility esteeming one another surpassing yourselves, Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
each looking at not the things of yourselves, but each also the things of others. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Let this mind be in you⁺ that was also in Christ Jesus: Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider to be equal with God something to be grasped, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
but emptied Himself, having taken the form of a servant, having been made in the likeness of men. but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And having been found in appearance as a man He humbled Himself, having become obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Therefore God also highly exalted Him and granted to Him the name above every name, Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in the heavens and on earth and under the earth, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my beloved, just as always you⁺ obeyed, not only as in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
For God is the One working in you⁺ both to will and to work on behalf of His good pleasure. for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Do all things without grumblings and disputings, Do all things without grumbling or disputing, Do everything without grumbling or arguing,
so that you⁺ may be blameless and innocent, children of God unblemished in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you⁺ shine as lights in the world, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky
holding forth the word of life for a boast to me in the day of Christ that I did not run in vain, nor did I toil in vain. holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your⁺ faith, I rejoice and rejoice with you⁺ all. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
And likewise you⁺ also be glad and rejoice with me. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you⁺ soon, that I also may be of good spirit, having known the things concerning you⁺. I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you.
For I have no one like-minded, who genuinely will care for the things concerning you⁺. For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare.
For those all seek the things of themselves, not the things of Jesus Christ. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.
But you⁺ know his proven worth, that as a child with a father he served with me in the gospel. But you know Timothy’s proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel. But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.
Therefore indeed I hope to send him immediately, when I shall have seen the things concerning me. I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.
And I am persuaded in the Lord that I myself will also come soon. and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also. And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.
Now I deemed it necessary to send to you⁺ Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your⁺ messenger and minister of my need, I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need, But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs.
since he was longing for you⁺ all and being deeply distressed because you⁺ heard that he was sick. for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill.
And indeed he was sick, nearly unto death. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow. Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.
Therefore I sent him all the more eagerly, so that having seen him again you⁺ may rejoice, and I may be less anxious. I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety.
Therefore receive him in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honor, So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honor such men, So then, welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,
because on account of the work of Christ he drew near unto death, having disregarded his life so that he might fill up your⁺ deficiency of service toward me. for he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me. because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me.
