1 Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you⁺ indeed is not troublesome to me, and is secure for you⁺. Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you. Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.
2 Look out for the dogs! Look out for the evil workers! Look out for the mutilation! Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.
3 For we are the circumcision, those worshiping in the Spirit of God and boasting in Christ Jesus, and not having put confidence in the flesh— For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
4 though I have confidence even in the flesh. If any other thinks to have confidence in the flesh, I more: though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more:
5 circumcision on the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; according to the law, a Pharisee; circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee;
6 according to zeal, persecuting the church; according to righteousness that is in the law, having become blameless. as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.
7 But whatever things were gain to me, these I have deemed loss because of Christ. But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
8 But indeed, therefore, I also deem all things to be loss because of the surpassing knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom I have lost all things and deem them rubbish, that I may gain Christ Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
9 and may be found in Him, not having my own righteousness that is of the law, but that which is through faith from Christ, the righteousness of God upon faith, and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
10 to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
11 if somehow I may attain to the resurrection out from the dead. that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
12 Not that I already obtained it or already have been perfected, but I pursue, if also I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 Brothers, I do not reckon myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing: Indeed, forgetting the things behind and stretching forward to the things ahead, Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 I pursue toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore as many as are mature, we should be of this mind. And if you⁺ are minded in anything differently, even this God will reveal to you⁺. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
16 However, to that which we have attained, walk by the same. Only let us hold true to what we have attained. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
17 Be imitators together of me, brothers, and look at those walking thus, as you⁺ have a pattern in us. Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.
18 For many walk—of whom I told you⁺ often, and now I say even weeping—as enemies of the cross of Christ, For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly and their glory is in their shame, those minding earthly things. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.
20 For our citizenship is in the heavens, from where also we eagerly await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our body of humiliation to be conformed to the body of His glory, according to the working of His powering, even to subject all things to Himself. who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
