1 At that time Jesus (YHWH saves) went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples (pupils) were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them. Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent?
6 But I tell you⁺ that One greater than the temple is here. I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.
7 If only you⁺ had known the meaning of ‘I desire mercy (compassion), not sacrifice ,’ you⁺ would not have condemned the innocent. And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord {kyrios} of the Sabbath. For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.” For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
9 Moving on from there, Jesus entered their synagogue, He went on from there and entered their synagogue. Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue,
10 and a man with a withered hand was there. In order to accuse Jesus, they asked Him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath? And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—so that they might accuse him. and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
11 He replied, “If one of you⁺ has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?
12 How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath. Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
13 Then Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand. So he stretched it out, and it was restored to full use, just like the other. Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.

19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets. He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets; He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.

22 Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed the man so that he could speak and see. 23 The crowds were astounded and asked, “Could this be the Son of David (beloved)? And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?” All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul [Beezebub], the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons. But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons.” But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”
25 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul [Beezebub], by whom do your⁺ sons drive them out? So then, they will be your⁺ judges. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.
28 But if I drive out demons by the Spirit {Pneumati} of God {Theou}, then the kingdom of God has come upon you⁺. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house. Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house. “Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.
30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
31 Therefore I tell you⁺, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit {Pneumatos} will not be forgiven. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit {Hagiou Pneumatos} will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
33 Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is known by its fruit. “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.
34 You brood of vipers, how can you⁺ who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? 35 The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
36 But I tell you⁺ that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word {rhēma} they have spoken. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.
37 For by your words you will be acquitted (rendered innocent), and by your words you will be condemned. for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher {Didaskale}, we want to see a sign from You. Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
39 Jesus replied, “A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah (dove). But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah (dove) was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh (abode of Ninus) will stand at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah (dove), and now One greater than Jonah is here. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. 43 When an unclean (impure) spirit {pneuma} comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left. On its return, it finds the house vacant, swept clean, and put in order. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order.
45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits {pneumata} more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.” Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
46 While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him. 49 Pointing to His disciples (pupils), He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers. And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.
50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
