5	And, leading Him up, he showed Him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in a moment of time.	And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,	The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
6	And the Devil said to Him, "To Thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them; because to me it has been delivered, and to whomsoever I will I give it.	and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will.	And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
7	If Thou, therefore, wilt worship before me, it shall all be Thine."	If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.”	If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8	And Jesus, answering, said to him, "It has been written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.'"	And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’”	Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”
9	And he led Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If Thou art God's Son, cast Thyself down hence;	And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,	The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here.
10	for it has been written, 'He will command His angels concerning you, to keep watch over you;	for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’	For it is written: “’He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;
11	and on their hands they shall bear you up, lest haply you dash your foot against a stone.'"	and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”	they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
12	And Jesus, answering, said to him, "It has been said, You shall not tempt the Lord your God."	And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”	Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
13	And, having completed every temptation, the Devil departed from Him until a fitting season.	And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.	When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
14	And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee; and a report went out concerning Him through all the region round about.	And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country.	Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,	“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
19	to proclaim an acceptable year of the Lord."	to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”	to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
20	And, having closed the book. He gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on Him. And they said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”	All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.
23	And He said to them, "Ye will doubtless say to Me this parable, 'Physician, heal Thyself: whatsoever we heard of as done in Capernaum, do also here in Thy own country.'"	And he said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘“Physician, heal yourself.” What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.’”	Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”
24	And He said, "Verily I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country.	And he said, “Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.	“Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.
25	But of a truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine upon all the land;	But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heavens were shut up three years and six months, and a great famine came over all the land,	I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.
26	and to no one of them was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.	and Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.	Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.
27	"And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and no one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian."	And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”	And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”
28	And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, on hearing these things;	When they heard these things, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath.	All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.
29	and, rising up, they cast Him forth out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, to throw Him down headlong;	And they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff.	They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff.
30	but He, passing through their midst, was going His way.	But passing through their midst, he went away.	But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.
31	And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee; and He was teaching them on the sabbath;	And he went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the Sabbath,	Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people.
32	and they were astonished at His teaching, because His word was with authority.	and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word possessed authority.	They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority.
33	And in the synagogue there was a man having a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,	And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,	In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice,
34	"Ha! what is there to us and to Thee, Jesus, Nazarene! Didst Thou come to destroy us? I know Thee, Who Thou art, the Holy One of God!"	“Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.”	“Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
35	And Jesus rebuked it, saying, "Be silent, and come out from him." And the demon, hurling him into the midst, came out from him, having injured him naught.	But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.	“Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36	And amazement came upon all; and they were talking together, one with another, saying, "What is this word, that with authority and power He commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out!"	And they were all amazed and said to one another, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”	All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!”
37	And there was going forth a report concerning Him into every place of the region round about.	And reports about him went out into every place in the surrounding region.	And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.
38	And, rising up, He went out of the synagogue into the house of Simon. And the mother-in-law of Simon was afflicted with a great fever; and they besought Him concerning her.	And he arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her behalf.	Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her.
39	And, standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and, immediately rising up, she was ministering to them.	And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.	So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40	And, as the sun was setting, all, as many as had any ailing with divers diseases, brought them to Him; and He, laying His hands on each one of them, was healing them.	Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to him, and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.	At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.
41	And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, "Thou art the Son of God." And, rebuking them, He was not suffering them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.	And demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.	Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.
42	And, day coming on, going forth, He went into a desert place; and the multitudes were seeking after Him, and came to Him, and were trying to restrain Him from going away from them.	And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them,	At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them.
43	And He said to them, "It is needful that I proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God to the other cities also; because for this I was sent forth."	but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.”	But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
44	And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.	And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.	And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
