| 14 | καὶ εὗρεν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τοὺς πωλοῦντας βόας καὶ πρόβατα καὶ περιστερὰς καὶ τοὺς κερματιστὰς καθημένους | In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. | In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. | |
| 15 | καὶ ποιήσας φραγέλλιον ἐκ σχοινίων πάντας ἐξέβαλεν ἐκ τοῦ ἱεροῦ τά τε πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς βόας καὶ τῶν κολλυβιστῶν ἐξέχεεν τὰ κέρματα καὶ τὰς τραπέζας ἀνέτρεψεν | And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. | So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. | |
| 16 | καὶ τοῖς τὰς περιστερὰς πωλοῦσιν εἶπεν Ἄρατε ταῦτα ἐντεῦθεν μὴ ποιεῖτε τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Πατρός μου οἶκον ἐμπορίου | And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” | To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” | |
| 17 | Ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι γεγραμμένον ἐστίν Ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου καταφάγεταί με | His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” | His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.” | |
