1 For the law possesses a shadow of the good things to come but not the reality itself, and is therefore completely unable, by the same sacrifices offered continually, year after year, to perfect those who come to worship. For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
2 For otherwise would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers would have been purified once for all and so have no further consciousness of sin? Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year after year. But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins.
4 For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 So when he came into the world, he said, |Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me. Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;

8 When he says above, |Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you did not desire nor did you take delight in them| (which are offered according to the law), When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them|—though they were offered in accordance with the law.
9 then he says, |Here I am: I have come to do your will.| He does away with the first to establish the second. then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second.
10 By his will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands day after day serving and offering the same sacrifices again and again--sacrifices that can never take away sins. And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But when this priest had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, he sat down at the right hand of God, But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
13 where he is now waiting until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet. waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 And the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us, for after saying, And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 |This is the covenant that I will establish with them after those days, says the Lord. I will put my laws on their hearts and I will inscribe them on their minds,| “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
17 then he says, |Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no longer.| then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
18 Now where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

25 not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near. not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

28 Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace? How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know the one who said, |Vengeance is mine, I will repay,| and again, |The Lord will judge his people.| For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But remember the former days when you endured a harsh conflict of suffering after you were enlightened. But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering.
33 At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and afflictions, and at other times you came to share with others who were treated in that way. sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.
34 For in fact you shared the sufferings of those in prison, and you accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy, because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.
35 So do not throw away your confidence, because it has great reward. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 For you need endurance in order to do God's will and so receive what is promised. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
37 For just a little longer and he who is coming will arrive and not delay. For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”
38 But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I take no pleasure in him. but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
39 But we are not among those who shrink back and thus perish, but are among those who have faith and preserve their souls. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
