1	Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold; its height was sixty cubits, its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.	King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its breadth six cubits. He set it up on the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.	King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.
2	And Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the satraps, the administrators, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the province, to come for the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.	Then King Nebuchadnezzar sent to gather the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the justices, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces to come to the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up.
3	Then were gathered together the satraps, the administrators, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the province, for the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	Then the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the justices, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces gathered for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.
4	And the herald was calling out with force: “To you⁺ it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,	And the herald proclaimed aloud, “You are commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,	Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do:
5	that at the time when you⁺ hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you⁺ shall fall down and give homage to the image of gold that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up!	that when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.	As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.
6	And whoever does not fall down and give homage to it, he shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning furnace of fire!”	And whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace.”	Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”
7	All because of this, at that time, accordingly as all the people heard the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, trigon, pipe, and all kinds of music, they fell down—all the people, nations, and languages—giving homage to the image of gold that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.	Therefore, as soon as all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, all the peoples, nations, and languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, all the nations and peoples of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
8	All because of this, at that time some astrologers, men, came forward and they ate to pieces the Jews.	Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and maliciously accused the Jews.	At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews.
9	They spoke and said to Nebuchadnezzar the king, “O King, may you live forever!	They declared to King Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live forever!	They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “May the king live forever!
10	You, O king, have set forth a decree that any man who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, and pipe, and all kinds of music, must fall down and give homage to the image of gold.	You, O king, have made a decree, that every man who hears the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image.	Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold,
11	And whoever does not fall down and give homage, he shall be cast into the midst of a burning furnace of fire!	And whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into a burning fiery furnace.	and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace.
12	There are men of the Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men do not set upon you, O king, the regard! To your gods they do not serve, and to the image of gold that you have set up they do not give homage!”	There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”	But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.”
13	Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.	Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king.	Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king,
14	Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, that you⁺ are not giving service to my gods and not giving homage to the image of gold that I have set up?	Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up?	and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up?
15	Now, if you⁺ are ready, at that time when you⁺ hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, and pipe, and all kinds of music, then you⁺ fall down and give homage to the image that I have made! And if you⁺ will not give homage in it, immediately you⁺ shall be cast into the midst of a burning furnace of fire—and who is the god who will deliver you⁺ from my hands?”	Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”	Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”
16	Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered, and said to the king: “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to answer you in this matter.	Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.	Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.
17	If our God, whom we serve, exists, He is able to deliver us from the burning furnace of fire. From your hand, O king, He will deliver us.	If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.	If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.
18	But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that to your gods we are not serving, and to the image of gold that you have set up we will not give homage.”	But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”	But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
19	Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the image of his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. He spoke and commanded to heat the furnace seven times more than it is seen to be heated.	Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated.	Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual
20	And to men mighty of valor who were in his army, he commanded to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, to cast them into the burning furnace of fire.	And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.	and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace.
21	Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, and their turbans, and their garments, and they were cast into the midst of the burning furnace of fire.	Then these men were bound in their cloaks, their tunics, their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace.	So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace.
22	All because of this, upon that the command of the king was urgent and the furnace was extremely hot, these men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, the flame of fire killed them.	Because the king’s order was urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.	The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego,
23	And these three men—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell into the midst of the burning furnace of fire, bound.	And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace.	and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
24	Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was startled, and he rose in haste; he spoke and said to his counselors, “Was it not that we cast three men into the midst of the fire, bound?” They answered and said to the king, “Certainly, O King.”	Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and rose up in haste. He declared to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”	Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.”
25	He answered and said, “Behold! I am seeing four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and there is to them no harm! And his appearance, that of the fourth, is like a son of the gods!”	He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.”	He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
26	Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning furnace of fire; he answered and said: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, servants of God Most High, come out and come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego came out from the midst of the fire.	Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire.	Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire,
27	And gathered together the satraps, the administrators, and the governors, and the counselors of the king, and they saw these men whom the fire had no power over their bodies, and the hair of their head was not singed, and their garments were not changed, and the smell of fire had not passed over them.	And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them.	and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
28	Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and who changed the word of the king, and gave up their bodies that they should not serve and not give homage to any god, except to their God!	Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, and set aside the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies rather than serve and worship any god except their own God.	Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
29	And a decree from me shall be set forth, that any people, nation, or language, that speaks wrong against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut into limbs and their houses shall be made a dunghill—all because that there is no other God who is able to deliver like this.”	Therefore I make a decree: Any people, nation, or language that speaks anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb, and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to rescue in this way.”	Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.”
30	Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego in the province of Babylon.	Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.	Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
