1	And he came down also to Derbe and to Lystra. And, behold, a certain disciple was there, Timothy by name, son of a believing Jewish woman, but of a Grecian father;	Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek.	Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek.
2	who was well reported of by the brethren in Lystra and Iconium;	He was well spoken of by the brothers at Lystra and Iconium.	The believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him.
3	this one Paul wished to go forth with him; and, taking him, he circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places; for they all knew that his father was a Greek. 12	and thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of the district of Macedonia, a colony. 14	And a certain woman, Lydia by name, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, was listening, whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things spoken by Paul.	One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.	One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.
15	And, when she was immersed, and her household, she besought us , saying, "If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, having entered into my house, abide there ." And she constrained us.	And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.	When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.
16	And it came to pass, as we were on our way to the place of prayer, that a certain damsel, having a spirit of divination, met us; who, indeed, was bringing to her masters much gain by sooth-saying.	As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling.	Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling.
17	The same, following after Paul and us, kept crying, saying, "These men are servants of the Most High God; who, indeed, declare to you a way of salvation."	She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.”	She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.”
18	And this she was doing for many days. But Paul, having been troubled, and turning, said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out from her." And it came out that very hour!	And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.	She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.
19	But her masters, seeing that the hope of their gain was gone, laying hold on Paul and Silas, dragged them into the market-place before the rulers;	But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.	When her owners realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.
20	and, leading them forward to the magistrates, they said, "These men, being Jews, are greatly disturbing our city;	And when they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are Jews, and they are disturbing our city. 24	who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped.
28	But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here."	But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.”	But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”
29	And, calling for a light, he sprang in, and, being in fear, he fell down before Paul and Silas;	And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas.	The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.
30	and, having brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"	Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”	He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31	And they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved, and your house."	And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”	They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
32	And they spake to him the word of the Lord with all that were in his house.	And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.	Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.
33	And, having taken them with him, at that hour of the night he washed their stripes; and was immersed, himself and all his, immediately;	And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.	At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.
34	and, bringing them up into his house, he placed a table near them ; and he rejoiced greatly with all his house, having believed in God.	Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.	The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.
35	And, when it was day, the magistrates sent forth the serjeants, saying, "Release these men."	But when it was day, the magistrates sent the police, saying, “Let those men go.”	When it was daylight, the magistrates sent their officers to the jailer with the order: “Release those men.”
36	And the jailer reported these words to Paul, "The magistrates have sent that ye be released; now, therefore, going forth, go on your way in peace."	And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go. Therefore come out now and go in peace.”	The jailer told Paul, “The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave. Go in peace.”
37	But Paul said to them "Having beaten us in public, uncondemned, being Romans, they cast us into prison; and now are they casting us out secretly? Nay, verily; but, coming themselves, let them lead us out."	But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out.”	But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”
38	And the serjeants reported these words to the magistrates; and they were afraid, when they heard that they were Romans;	The police reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Roman citizens.	The officers reported this to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were alarmed.
39	and, coming, they besought them; and, leading them forth, they kept asking them to go away from the city.	So they came and apologized to them. And they took them out and asked them to leave the city.	They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.
40	And, coming out from the prison, they entered into the house of Lidia; and, seeing the brethren, they comforted them , and departed.	So they went out of the prison and visited Lydia. And when they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them and departed.	After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house, where they met with the brothers and sisters and encouraged them. Then they left.
