3	Paul wanted this one to go out with him, and having taken him, he circumcised him on account of the Jews being in those parts; for they all knew that his father was a Greek. 15	And when she was baptized, and her house, she begged, saying, “If you⁺ have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, having entered into my house, abide.” And she persuaded us.	And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.	When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.
16	Now it happened in our going to the prayer that a certain girl having a spirit of Python met us, who was bringing her masters much gain by fortune-telling.	As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling.	Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling.
17	Having followed Paul and us, she was crying out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you⁺ the way of salvation!”	She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.”	She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.”
18	And she continued this for many days. And Paul, having been distressed and having turned, said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out from her!” And it came out the same hour.	And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.	She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.
19	And her masters, having seen that their hope of profit was gone, having taken hold of Paul and Silas, dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.	But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. 29	And having called for lights, he rushed in, and having become terrified, he fell down before Paul and Silas. 31	And they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your house.”	And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”	They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
32	And they spoke the word of the Lord to him, along with all those in his house.	And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.	Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.
33	And having taken them in that hour of the night, he washed them from the wounds, and immediately he was baptized, and all his own.	And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.	At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.
34	And having brought them into the house, he set a table and rejoiced with all his household, having believed in God.	Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.	The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.
35	And day having come, the magistrates sent the officers, saying, “Release those men.”	But when it was day, the magistrates sent the police, saying, “Let those men go.”	When it was daylight, the magistrates sent their officers to the jailer with the order: “Release those men.”
36	And the jailer reported these words to Paul: “The captains have sent that you⁺ may be let go. Now, therefore, having gone out, depart in peace.”	And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go. Therefore come out now and go in peace.”	The jailer told Paul, “The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave. Go in peace.”
37	But Paul was saying to them, “Having beaten us publicly, uncondemned men being Romans, they cast us into prison, and now do they throw us out secretly? No indeed! Rather, having come themselves, let them bring us out.”	But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out.”	But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”
38	And the officers reported these words to the captains, and they were afraid, having heard that they are Romans.	The police reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Roman citizens.	The officers reported this to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were alarmed.
39	And having come, they appealed to them, and having brought them out, they were asking them to go out of the city.	So they came and apologized to them. And they took them out and asked them to leave the city.	They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.
40	And having gone out of the prison, they came to Lydia, and having seen them, they exhorted the brothers and went out.	So they went out of the prison and visited Lydia. And when they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them and departed.	After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house, where they met with the brothers and sisters and encouraged them. Then they left.
