1In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines.1After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its villages out of the hand of the Philistines.1Now after this it came about that David defeated the Philistines and subdued them and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.1Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.1After this, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its villages from Philistine control.
2David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to him and brought him tribute.2And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.2He defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.2And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.2He also defeated the Moabites, and they became David's subjects and brought tribute.
3Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, in the vicinity of Hamath, when he went to set up his monument at the Euphrates River.3David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah-Hamath, as he went to set up his monument at the river Euphrates.3David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his rule to the Euphrates River.3And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.3David also defeated King Hadadezer of Zobah at Hamath when he went to establish his control at the Euphrates River.
4David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.4And David took from him 1,000 chariots, 7,000 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers. And David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left enough for 100 chariots.4David took from him 1,000 chariots and 7,000 horsemen and 20,000 foot soldiers, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for 100 chariots.4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.4David captured 1,000 chariots, 7,000 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers from him, hamstrung all the horses, and kept 100 chariots.

5When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.5And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 men of the Syrians.5When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed 22,000 men of the Arameans.5And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.5When the Arameans of Damascus came to assist King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 Aramean men.
6He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought him tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.6Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the LORD helped David wherever he went.6Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.6Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became David's subjects and brought tribute. The LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
7David took the gold shields carried by the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.7And David took the shields of gold that were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.7David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.7David took the gold shields carried by Hadadezer's officers and brought them to Jerusalem.
8From Tebah and Kun, towns that belonged to Hadadezer, David took a great quantity of bronze, which Solomon used to make the bronze Sea, the pillars and various bronze articles.8And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a large amount of bronze. With it Solomon made the bronze sea and the pillars and the vessels of bronze.8Also from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a very large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze sea and the pillars and the bronze utensils.8Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.8From Tibhath and Cun, Hadadezer's cities, David also took huge quantities of bronze, from which Solomon made the bronze reservoir, the pillars, and the bronze articles.
9When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,9When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah,9Now when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,9Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;9When King Tou of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of King Hadadezer of Zobah,

10he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory in battle over Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold, of silver and of bronze.10he sent his son Hadoram to King David, to ask about his health and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had often been at war with Tou. And he sent all sorts of articles of gold, of silver, and of bronze.10he sent Hadoram his son to King David to greet him and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou. And Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze.10He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.10he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him because David had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, for Tou and Hadadezer had fought many wars. Hadoram brought all kinds of gold, silver, and bronze items.
11King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek.11These also King David dedicated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold that he had carried off from all the nations, from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amalek.11King David also dedicated these to the LORD with the silver and the gold which he had carried away from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, and from Amalek.11Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.11King David also dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all the nations--from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and the Amalekites.
12Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.12And Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, killed 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.12Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah defeated 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.12Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.12Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.13Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.13Then he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD helped David wherever he went.13And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.13He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. The LORD made David victorious wherever he went.

17Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites; and David's sons were chief officials at the king's side.17and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were the chief officials in the service of the king.17and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were chiefs at the king's side.17And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.17Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were the chief officials at the king's side.
