Philippians 4
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.1Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work. Words of Encouragement
I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.2Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.
And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.3And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!4Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.5Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.7Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.8And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.9Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Paul’s Thanks for Their Gifts
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.10How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.
Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:11Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.12I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.13For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.14Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.
Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.15As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.
For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.16Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.
Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.17I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.
Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.18At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.19And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.20Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. Paul’s Final Greetings
Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you.21Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings.
All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.22And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.23May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
