Leviticus 26
NKJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
‘You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.1You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.
You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD.2'You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the LORD.
‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them,3'If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out,
then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.4then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.5'Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. You will thus eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.
I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land.6I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down with no one making you tremble. I shall also eliminate harmful beasts from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.
You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.7'But you will chase your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword;
Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.8five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.
‘For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you.9'So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.
You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.10'You will eat the old supply and clear out the old because of the new.
I will set My tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you.11'Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.12'I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.13I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.
‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments,14'But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,
and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,15if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant,
I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.16I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to pine away; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up.
I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.17'I will set My face against you so that you will be struck down before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.
‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.18'If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.19'I will also break down your pride of power; I will also make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.
And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.20'Your strength will be spent uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.
‘Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins.21'If then, you act with hostility against Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.
I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate.22'I will let loose among you the beasts of the field, which will bereave you of your children and destroy your cattle and reduce your number so that your roads lie deserted.
‘And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me,23'And if by these things you are not turned to Me, but act with hostility against Me,
then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins.24then I will act with hostility against you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins.
And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.25'I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you, so that you shall be delivered into enemy hands.
When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.26'When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.
‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me,27'Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me,
then I also will walk contrary to you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.28then I will act with wrathful hostility against you, and I, even I, will punish you seven times for your sins.
You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.29'Further, you will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters you will eat.
I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you.30'I then will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and heap your remains on the remains of your idols, for My soul shall abhor you.
I will lay your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance of your sweet aromas.31'I will lay waste your cities as well and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aromas.
I will bring the land to desolation, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it.32'I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled over it.
I will scatter you among the nations and draw out a sword after you; your land shall be desolate and your cities waste.33'You, however, I will scatter among the nations and will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become waste.
Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest and enjoy its sabbaths.34'Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.
As long as it lies desolate it shall rest— for the time it did not rest on your sabbaths when you dwelt in it.35All the days of its desolation it will observe the rest which it did not observe on your sabbaths, while you were living on it.
‘And as for those of you who are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a shaken leaf shall cause them to flee; they shall flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues.36'As for those of you who may be left, I will also bring weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.
They shall stumble over one another, as it were before a sword, when no one pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.37They will therefore stumble over each other as if running from the sword, although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength to stand up before your enemies.
You shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.38'But you will perish among the nations, and your enemies' land will consume you.
And those of you who are left shall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in their fathers’ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away.39'So those of you who may be left will rot away because of their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the iniquities of their forefathers they will rot away with them.
But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,40'If they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me--
and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt—41I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies-- or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled so that they then make amends for their iniquity,
then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land.42then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.
The land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes.43'For the land will be abandoned by them, and will make up for its sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making amends for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and their soul abhorred My statutes.
Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.44'Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so abhor them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.
But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.’ ”45'But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.'"
These are the statutes and judgments and laws which the LORD made between Himself and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.46These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the LORD established between Himself and the sons of Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai.
