Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:1The LORD spoke to Moses:
“On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.2"You are to set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.
You shall put in it the ark of the Testimony, and partition off the ark with the veil.3Put the ark of the testimony there and screen off the ark with the curtain.
You shall bring in the table and arrange the things that are to be set in order on it; and you shall bring in the lampstand and light its lamps.4Then bring in the table and lay out its arrangement; also bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.
You shall also set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the Testimony, and put up the screen for the door of the tabernacle.5Place the gold altar for incense in front of the ark of the testimony. Put up the screen for the entrance to the tabernacle.
Then you shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.6Position the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.
And you shall set the laver between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.7Place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
You shall set up the court all around, and hang up the screen at the court gate.8Assemble the surrounding courtyard and hang the screen for the gate of the courtyard.
“And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it; and you shall hallow it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy.9"Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it along with all its furnishings so that it will be holy.
You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. The altar shall be most holy.10Anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar so that it will be especially holy.
And you shall anoint the laver and its base, and consecrate it.11Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate it.
“Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of meeting and wash them with water.12"Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.13Clothe Aaron with the holy garments, anoint him, and consecrate him, so that he can serve me as a priest.
And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with tunics.14Have his sons come forward and clothe them in tunics.
You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”15Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so that they may also serve me as priests. Their anointing will serve to inaugurate a permanent priesthood for them throughout their generations."
Thus Moses did; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did.16Moses did everything just as the LORD had commanded him.
And it came to pass in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up.17The tabernacle was set up in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month.
So Moses raised up the tabernacle, fastened its sockets, set up its boards, put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.18Moses set up the tabernacle: He laid its bases, positioned its supports, inserted its crossbars, and set up its pillars.
And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.19Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He took the Testimony and put it into the ark, inserted the poles through the rings of the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.20Moses took the testimony and placed it in the ark, and attached the poles to the ark. He set the mercy seat on top of the ark.
And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, hung up the veil of the covering, and partitioned off the ark of the Testimony, as the LORD had commanded Moses.21He brought the ark into the tabernacle, put up the curtain for the screen, and screened off the ark of the testimony, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the table in the tabernacle of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil;22Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the curtain.
and he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.23He arranged the bread on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the lampstand in the tabernacle of meeting, across from the table, on the south side of the tabernacle;24He put the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle
and he lit the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.25and set up the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the gold altar in the tabernacle of meeting in front of the veil;26Moses installed the gold altar in the tent of meeting, in front of the curtain,
and he burned sweet incense on it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.27and burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He hung up the screen at the door of the tabernacle.28He put up the screen at the entrance to the tabernacle.
And he put the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as the LORD had commanded Moses.29He placed the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered the burnt offering and the grain offering on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He set the laver between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar, and put water there for washing;30He set the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing.
and Moses, Aaron, and his sons would wash their hands and their feet with water from it.31Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet from it.
Whenever they went into the tabernacle of meeting, and when they came near the altar, they washed, as the LORD had commanded Moses.32They washed whenever they came to the tent of meeting and approached the altar, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And he raised up the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the screen of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.33Next Moses set up the surrounding courtyard for the tabernacle and the altar and hung a screen for the gate of the courtyard. So Moses finished the work.
Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.34The cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.35Moses was unable to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud rested on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys.36The Israelites set out whenever the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle throughout all the stages of their journey.
But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up.37If the cloud was not taken up, they did not set out until the day it was taken up.
For the cloud of the LORD was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.38For the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and there was a fire inside the cloud by night, visible to the entire house of Israel throughout all the stages of their journey.
