NET BibleHolman Christian Standard Bible
When Israel left Egypt, when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind, 1When Israel came out of Egypt-- the house of Jacob from a people who spoke a foreign language--
Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his kingdom. 2Judah became His sanctuary, Israel, His dominion.
The sea looked and fled; the Jordan River turned back. 3The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. 4The mountains skipped like rams, the hills, like lambs.
Why do you flee, O sea? Why do you turn back, O Jordan River? 5Why was it, sea, that you fled? Jordan, that you turned back?
Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills? 6Mountains, that you skipped like rams? Hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, before the Lord--before the God of Jacob, 7Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turned a rock into a pool of water, a hard rock into springs of water! 8who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.
