By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. 1LORD, I appeal to you.
My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! 2My God, I trust in you. Do not let me be disgraced; do not let my enemies gloat over me.
Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. 3No one who waits for you will be disgraced; those who act treacherously without cause will be disgraced.
Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! 4Make your ways known to me, LORD; teach me your paths.
Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. 5Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; I wait for you all day long.
Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. 6Remember, LORD, your compassion and your faithful love, for they have existed from antiquity.
Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! 7Do not remember the sins of my youth or my acts of rebellion; in keeping with your faithful love, remember me because of your goodness, LORD.
The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. 8The LORD is good and upright; therefore he shows sinners the way.
May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! 9He leads the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. 10All the LORD's ways show faithful love and truth to those who keep his covenant and decrees.
For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. 11LORD, for the sake of your name, forgive my iniquity, for it is immense.
The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. 12Who is this person who fears the LORD? He will show him the way he should choose.
They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. 13He will live a good life, and his descendants will inherit the land.
The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. 14The secret counsel of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he reveals his covenant to them.
I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. 15My eyes are always on the LORD, for he will pull my feet out of the net.
Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! 16Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am alone and afflicted.
Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! 17The distresses of my heart increase; bring me out of my sufferings.
See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! 18Consider my affliction and trouble, and forgive all my sins.
Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. 19Consider my enemies; they are numerous, and they hate me violently.
Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! 20Guard me and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! 21May integrity and what is right watch over me, for I wait for you.
O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! 22God, redeem Israel, from all its distresses.
