By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. 1Of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! 2in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.
Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. 3Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced.
Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! 4Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.
Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. 5Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You.
Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. 6Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion, for they are from age to age.
Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! 7Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD.
The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. 8Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way.
May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! 9He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. 10All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.
For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. 11For the sake of Your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, for it is great.
The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. 12Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the path chosen for him.
They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. 13His soul will dwell in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.
The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. 14The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them.
I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. 15My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the mesh.
Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! 16Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted.
Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! 17The troubles of my heart increase; free me from my distress.
See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! 18Consider my affliction and trouble, and take away all my sins.
Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. 19Consider my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with vicious hatred.
Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! 20Guard my soul and deliver me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in You.
May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! 21May integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for You.
O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! 22Redeem Israel, O God, from all its distress.
