New American Standard Bible 1995Berean Study Bible
A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, O LORD, give heed to my cry; Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.1A prayer of David. Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer—it comes from lips free of deceit.
Let my judgment come forth from Your presence; Let Your eyes look with equity.2May my vindication come from Your presence; may Your eyes see what is right.
You have tried my heart; You have visited me by night; You have tested me and You find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.3You have tried my heart; You have visited me in the night. You have tested me and found no evil; I have resolved not to sin with my mouth.
As for the deeds of men, by the word of Your lips I have kept from the paths of the violent.4As for the deeds of men—by the word of Your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
My steps have held fast to Your paths. My feet have not slipped.5My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not slipped.
I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.6I call on You, O God, for You will answer me. Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.
Wondrously show Your lovingkindness, O Savior of those who take refuge at Your right hand From those who rise up against them.7Show the wonders of Your loving devotion, You who save by Your right hand those who seek refuge from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings8Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings
From the wicked who despoil me, My deadly enemies who surround me.9from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.
They have closed their unfeeling heart, With their mouth they speak proudly.10They have closed their callous hearts; their mouths speak with arrogance.
They have now surrounded us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast us down to the ground.11They have tracked us down, and now surround us; their eyes are set to cast us to the ground,
He is like a lion that is eager to tear, And as a young lion lurking in hiding places.12like a lion greedy for prey, like a young lion lurking in ambush.
Arise, O LORD, confront him, bring him low; Deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword,13Arise, O LORD, confront them! Bring them to their knees; deliver me from the wicked by Your sword,
From men with Your hand, O LORD, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their abundance to their babes.14from such men, O LORD, by Your hand—from men of the world whose portion is in this life. May You fill the bellies of Your treasured ones and satisfy their sons, so they leave their abundance to their children.
As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.15As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied in Your presence.
