Leviticus 26
NASB Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995Berean Study Bible
You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.1“You must not make idols for yourselves or set up a carved image or sacred pillar; you must not place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down to it. For I am the LORD your God.
'You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the LORD.2You must keep My Sabbaths and have reverence for My sanctuary. I am the LORD.
'If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out,3If you follow My statutes and carefully keep My commandments,
then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.4I will give you rains in their season, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.
'Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. You will thus eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.5Your threshing will continue until the grape harvest, and the grape harvest will continue until sowing time; you will have your fill of food to eat and will dwell securely in your land.
I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down with no one making you tremble. I shall also eliminate harmful beasts from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.6And I will give peace to the land, and you will lie down with nothing to fear. I will rid the land of dangerous animals, and no sword will pass through your land.
'But you will chase your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword;7You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you.
five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.8Five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.
'So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.9I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will establish My covenant with you.
'You will eat the old supply and clear out the old because of the new.10You will still be eating the old supply of grain when you need to clear it out to make room for the new.
'Moreover, I will make My dwelling among you, and My soul will not reject you.11And I will make My dwelling place among you, and My soul will not despise you.
'I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.12I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be My people.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.13I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians. I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk in uprightness.
'But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments,14If, however, you fail to obey Me and to carry out all these commandments,
if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant,15and if you reject My statutes, despise My ordinances, and neglect to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant,
I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to pine away; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up.16then this is what I will do to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease, and fever that will destroy your sight and drain your life. You will sow your seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.
'I will set My face against you so that you will be struck down before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.17And I will set My face against you, so that you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one pursues you.
'If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.18And if after all this you will not obey Me, I will proceed to punish you sevenfold for your sins.
'I will also break down your pride of power; I will also make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze.19I will break down your stubborn pride and make your sky like iron and your land like bronze,
'Your strength will be spent uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.20and your strength will be spent in vain. For your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.
'If then, you act with hostility against Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins.21If you walk in hostility toward Me and refuse to obey Me, I will multiply your plagues seven times, according to your sins.
'I will let loose among you the beasts of the field, which will bereave you of your children and destroy your cattle and reduce your number so that your roads lie deserted.22I will send wild animals against you to rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and reduce your numbers, until your roads lie desolate.
'And if by these things you are not turned to Me, but act with hostility against Me,23And if in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
then I will act with hostility against you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins.24then I will act with hostility toward you, and I will strike you sevenfold for your sins.
'I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant; and when you gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you, so that you shall be delivered into enemy hands.25And I will bring a sword against you to execute the vengeance of the covenant. Though you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
'When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.26When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in a single oven and dole out your bread by weight, so that you will eat but not be satisfied.
'Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me,27But if in spite of all this you do not obey Me, but continue to walk in hostility toward Me,
then I will act with wrathful hostility against you, and I, even I, will punish you seven times for your sins.28then I will walk in fury against you, and I, even I, will punish you sevenfold for your sins.
'Further, you will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters you will eat.29You will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
'I then will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and heap your remains on the remains of your idols, for My soul shall abhor you.30I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and heap your lifeless bodies on the lifeless remains of your idols; and My soul will despise you.
'I will lay waste your cities as well and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aromas.31I will reduce your cities to rubble and lay waste your sanctuaries, and I will refuse to smell the pleasing aroma of your sacrifices.
'I will make the land desolate so that your enemies who settle in it will be appalled over it.32And I will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who dwell in it will be appalled.
'You, however, I will scatter among the nations and will draw out a sword after you, as your land becomes desolate and your cities become waste.33But I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out a sword after you as your land becomes desolate and your cities are laid waste.
'Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths all the days of the desolation, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.34Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate, while you are in the land of your enemies. At that time the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths.
All the days of its desolation it will observe the rest which it did not observe on your sabbaths, while you were living on it.35As long as it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not receive during the Sabbaths when you lived in it.
'As for those of you who may be left, I will also bring weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.36As for those of you who survive, I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, so that even the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. And they will flee as one flees the sword, and fall when no one pursues them.
They will therefore stumble over each other as if running from the sword, although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength to stand up before your enemies.37They will stumble over one another as before the sword, though no one is behind them. So you will not be able to stand against your enemies.
'But you will perish among the nations, and your enemies' land will consume you.38You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will consume you.
'So those of you who may be left will rot away because of their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and also because of the iniquities of their forefathers they will rot away with them.39Those of you who survive in the lands of your enemies will waste away in their iniquity and will decay in the sins of their fathers.
'If they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me--40But if they will confess their iniquity and that of their fathers in the unfaithfulness that they practiced against Me, by which they have also walked in hostility toward Me—
I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies-- or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled so that they then make amends for their iniquity,41and I acted with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies—and if their uncircumcised hearts will be humbled and they will make amends for their iniquity,
then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.42then I will remember My covenant with Jacob and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
'For the land will be abandoned by them, and will make up for its sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making amends for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and their soul abhorred My statutes.43For the land will be abandoned by them, and it will enjoy its Sabbaths by lying desolate without them. And they will pay the penalty for their iniquity, because they rejected My ordinances and abhorred My statutes.
'Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so abhor them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.44Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject or despise them so as to destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.
'But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.'"45But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their fathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.”
These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the LORD established between Himself and the sons of Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai.46These are the statutes, ordinances, and laws that the LORD established between Himself and the Israelites through Moses on Mount Sinai.
