To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.1For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and He will hear me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.2I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.3I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah
Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You have kept me from closing my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.5I consider days of old, years long past.
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.6At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders."
Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?7Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor?
Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?8Has His faithful love ceased forever? Is His promise at an end for all generations?
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger withheld His compassion?" Selah
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.10So I say, "I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed."
I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.11I will remember the LORD's works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders.
I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.12I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions.
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?13God, Your way is holy. What god is great like God?
Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.14You are the God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the peoples.
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.15With power You redeemed Your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.16The waters saw You, God. The waters saw You; they trembled. Even the depths shook.
The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.17The clouds poured down water. The storm clouds thundered; Your arrows flashed back and forth.
The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked.
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.19Your way went through the sea and Your path through the great waters, but Your footprints were unseen.
Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
