HCSB Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleKing James Bible
LORD, God of vengeance-- God of vengeance, appear. 1O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Rise up, Judge of the earth; repay the proud what they deserve. 2Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
LORD, how long will the wicked-- how long will the wicked gloat? 3LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. 4How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
LORD, they crush Your people; they afflict Your heritage. 5They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
They kill the widow and the foreigner and murder the fatherless. 6They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
They say, "The LORD doesn't see it. The God of Jacob doesn't pay attention." 7Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
Pay attention, you stupid people! Fools, when will you be wise? 8Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
Can the One who shaped the ear not hear, the One who formed the eye not see? 9He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
The One who instructs nations, the One who teaches man knowledge-- does He not discipline? 10He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
The LORD knows man's thoughts; they are meaningless. 11The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
LORD, happy is the man You discipline and teach from Your law 12Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
to give him relief from troubled times until a pit is dug for the wicked. 13That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
The LORD will not forsake His people or abandon His heritage, 14For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
for justice will again be righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it. 15But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Who stands up for me against the wicked? Who takes a stand for me against evildoers? 16Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
If the LORD had not been my helper, I would soon rest in the silence of death. 17Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
If I say, "My foot is slipping," Your faithful love will support me, LORD. 18When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy. 19In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
Can a corrupt throne-- one that creates trouble by law-- become Your ally? 20Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. 21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
But the LORD is my refuge; my God is the rock of my protection. 22But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
He will pay them back for their sins and destroy them for their evil. The LORD our God will destroy them. 23And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
