Psalm 71
HCSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleInternational Standard Version
LORD, I seek refuge in You; let me never be disgraced. 1In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be humiliated.
In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; listen closely to me and save me. 2Rescue and deliver me, because you are righteous. Turn your ear to me and save me.
Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for You are my rock and fortress. 3Be my sheltering refuge where I may go continuously; command my deliverance for you are my rock and fortress.
Deliver me, my God, from the power of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and oppressive. 4My God, deliver me from the power of the wicked and the grasp of ruthless practicers of evil.
For You are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth. 5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my security since I was young.
I have leaned on You from birth; You took me from my mother's womb. My praise is always about You. 6I depended on you since birth, when you brought me from my mother's womb; I praise you continuously.
I have become an ominous sign to many, but You are my strong refuge. 7I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge.
My mouth is full of praise and honor to You all day long. 8My mouth is filled with your praise and your splendor daily.
Don't discard me in my old age; as my strength fails, do not abandon me. 9Don't throw me away when I am old; do not abandon me when my strength fails.
For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together, 10For my enemies talk against me; those who seek to kill me plot together
saying, "God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, for there is no one to rescue him." 11and say, "God has abandoned him. Run after him and seize him, because there's no deliverer."
God, do not be far from me; my God, hurry to help me. 12God, do not be distant from me. My God, come quickly to help me.
May my adversaries be disgraced and destroyed; may those who seek my harm be covered with disgrace and humiliation. 13Let my adversaries be ashamed and consumed; let those who seek my destruction be covered with scorn and disgrace.
But I will hope continually and will praise You more and more. 14As for me, I will hope continuously and will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell about Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up. 15I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be.
I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim Your righteousness, Yours alone. 16Lord GOD, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone.
God, You have taught me from my youth, and I still proclaim Your wonderful works. 17God, you taught me from my youth, so I am still declaring your awesome deeds.
Even when I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me. Then I will proclaim Your power to another generation, Your strength to all who are to come. 18Also, when I reach old age and have gray hair, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your power to this generation and your might to the next one.
Your righteousness reaches heaven, God, You who have done great things; God, who is like You? 19Your many righteous deeds, God, are great,
You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but You will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth. 20God, who can compare to you, who caused me to experience troubles that were numerous and disastrous? You will return to revive me and lift me up from the depths of the earth.
You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. 21You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.
Therefore, I will praise You with a harp for Your faithfulness, my God; I will sing to You with a lyre, Holy One of Israel. 22I also will praise you with the harp; because of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the lyre— Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to You because You have redeemed me. 23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed.
Therefore, my tongue will proclaim Your righteousness all day long, for those who seek my harm will be disgraced and confounded. 24Moreover, my tongue will speak all day about your justice; for those who seek my destruction will be utterly humiliated.
