Ezekiel 7
ESV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNew International Version
The word of the LORD came to me:1The word of the LORD came to me:
“And you, O son of man, thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.2"Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says to the land of Israel: "'The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land!
Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations.3The end is now upon you, and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.
And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity, but I will punish you for your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the LORD.4I will not look on you with pity; I will not spare you. I will surely repay you for your conduct and for the detestable practices among you. "'Then you will know that I am the LORD.'
“Thus says the Lord GOD: Disaster after disaster! Behold, it comes.5"This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Disaster! Unheard-of disaster! See, it comes!
An end has come; the end has come; it has awakened against you. Behold, it comes.6The end has come! The end has come! It has roused itself against you. See, it comes!
Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land. The time has come; the day is near, a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting on the mountains.7Doom has come upon you, upon you who dwell in the land. The time has come! The day is near! There is panic, not joy, on the mountains.
Now I will soon pour out my wrath upon you, and spend my anger against you, and judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations.8I am about to pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.
And my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the LORD, who strikes.9I will not look on you with pity; I will not spare you. I will repay you for your conduct and for the detestable practices among you. "'Then you will know that it is I the LORD who strikes you.
“Behold, the day! Behold, it comes! Your doom has come; the rod has blossomed; pride has budded.10"'See, the day! See, it comes! Doom has burst forth, the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed!
Violence has grown up into a rod of wickedness. None of them shall remain, nor their abundance, nor their wealth; neither shall there be preeminence among them.11Violence has arisen, a rod to punish the wicked. None of the people will be left, none of that crowd-- none of their wealth, nothing of value.
The time has come; the day has arrived. Let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn, for wrath is upon all their multitude.12The time has come! The day has arrived! Let not the buyer rejoice nor the seller grieve, for my wrath is on the whole crowd.
For the seller shall not return to what he has sold, while they live. For the vision concerns all their multitude; it shall not turn back; and because of his iniquity, none can maintain his life.13The seller will not recover the property that was sold-- as long as both buyer and seller live. For the vision concerning the whole crowd will not be reversed. Because of their sins, not one of them will preserve their life.
“They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but none goes to battle, for my wrath is upon all their multitude.14"'They have blown the trumpet, they have made all things ready, but no one will go into battle, for my wrath is on the whole crowd.
The sword is without; pestilence and famine are within. He who is in the field dies by the sword, and him who is in the city famine and pestilence devour.15Outside is the sword; inside are plague and famine. Those in the country will die by the sword; those in the city will be devoured by famine and plague.
And if any survivors escape, they will be on the mountains, like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each one over his iniquity.16The fugitives who escape will flee to the mountains. Like doves of the valleys, they will all moan, each for their own sins.
All hands are feeble, and all knees turn to water.17Every hand will go limp; every leg will be wet with urine.
They put on sackcloth, and horror covers them. Shame is on all faces, and baldness on all their heads.18They will put on sackcloth and be clothed with terror. Every face will be covered with shame, and every head will be shaved.
They cast their silver into the streets, and their gold is like an unclean thing. Their silver and gold are not able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it. For it was the stumbling block of their iniquity.19"'They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean. Their silver and gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath. It will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs, for it has caused them to stumble into sin.
His beautiful ornament they used for pride, and they made their abominable images and their detestable things of it. Therefore I make it an unclean thing to them.20They took pride in their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their detestable idols. They made it into vile images; therefore I will make it a thing unclean for them.
And I will give it into the hands of foreigners for prey, and to the wicked of the earth for spoil, and they shall profane it.21I will give their wealth as plunder to foreigners and as loot to the wicked of the earth, who will defile it.
I will turn my face from them, and they shall profane my treasured place. Robbers shall enter and profane it.22I will turn my face away from the people, and robbers will desecrate the place I treasure. They will enter it and will defile it.
“Forge a chain! For the land is full of bloody crimes and the city is full of violence.23"'Prepare chains! For the land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of violence.
I will bring the worst of the nations to take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the pride of the strong, and their holy places shall be profaned.24I will bring the most wicked of nations to take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the pride of the mighty, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.
When anguish comes, they will seek peace, but there shall be none.25When terror comes, they will seek peace in vain.
Disaster comes upon disaster; rumor follows rumor. They seek a vision from the prophet, while the law perishes from the priest and counsel from the elders.26Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor upon rumor. They will go searching for a vision from the prophet, priestly instruction in the law will cease, the counsel of the elders will come to an end.
The king mourns, the prince is wrapped in despair, and the hands of the people of the land are paralyzed by terror. According to their way I will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them, and they shall know that I am the LORD.”27The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them. "'Then they will know that I am the LORD.'"
