So they took away the stone. Then Jesus lifted His eyes upward and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
Psalm 121:1, 2
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? . . .
I lift up my eyes to You, the One enthroned in heaven.
I chirp like a swallow or crane; I moan like a dove. My eyes grow weak as I look upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; be my security.
But the tax collector stood at a distance, unwilling even to lift up his eyes to heaven. Instead, he beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner!'
So they tried to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts, near the treasury. Yet no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come.
John 12:23, 27, 28
But Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. . . .
It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end.
"Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
When Jesus returned the third time, He said, "Are you still sleeping and resting? That is enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on Me. But this hour belongs to you and to the power of darkness."
John 17:4, 5
I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do. . . .
He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
When Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."
John 13:31, 32
When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. . . .
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him.
