Yahweh Will Not Forget His People
אֵל־ (God) נְקָמ֥וֹת (of vengeance), יְהוָ֑ה (O YHWH),
אֵ֖ל (O God) נְקָמ֣וֹת (of vengeance), הוֹפִֽיַע׃ (shine forth).
2 הִ֭נָּשֵׂא (Rise up), שֹׁפֵ֣ט (O Judge) הָאָ֑רֶץ (of the earth);
הָשֵׁ֥ב (return) גְּ֝מ֗וּל (a recompense) עַל־ (on) גֵּאִֽים׃ (the proud).
3 עַד־ (Until) מָתַ֖י (when) רְשָׁעִ֥ים׀ (will the wicked), יְהוָ֑ה (O YHWH),
עַד־ (until) מָ֝תַ֗י (when) רְשָׁעִ֥ים (will the wicked) יַעֲלֹֽזוּ׃ (exult)?
4 יַבִּ֣יעוּ (They pour out) יְדַבְּר֣וּ (words) עָתָ֑ק (of arrogance);
יִֽ֝תְאַמְּר֗וּ (boast in themselves) כָּל־ (all) פֹּ֥עֲלֵי (the workers) אָֽוֶן׃ (of iniquity).
5 עַמְּךָ֣ (Your people), יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH), יְדַכְּא֑וּ (they crush),
וְֽנַחֲלָתְךָ֥ (and Your heritage) יְעַנּֽוּ׃ (they afflict).
6 אַ֭לְמָנָה (The widow) וְגֵ֣ר (and the foreigner) יַהֲרֹ֑גוּ (they kill),
וִֽיתוֹמִ֣ים (and the fatherless) יְרַצֵּֽחוּ׃ (they murder).
7 וַ֭יֹּ֣אמְרוּ (And they say), לֹ֣א (Not) יִרְאֶה־ (does see) יָּ֑הּ (YAH),
וְלֹא־ (and not) יָ֝בִ֗ין (does discern) אֱלֹהֵ֥י (the God) יַעֲקֹֽב׃ (of Jacob).
8 בִּ֭ינוּ (Discern), בֹּעֲרִ֣ים (O senseless) בָּעָ֑ם (among the people)!
וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים (O fools), מָתַ֥י (when) תַּשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃ (will you⁺ be wise)?
9 הֲנֹ֣טַֽע (The One planting) אֹ֭זֶן (the ear), הֲלֹ֣א (not) יִשְׁמָ֑ע (can He hear)?
אִֽם־ (Or) יֹ֥צֵֽר (the One forming) עַ֝֗יִן (the eye), הֲלֹ֣א (not) יַבִּֽיט׃ (can He see)?
10 הֲיֹסֵ֣ר (The One disciplining) גּ֭וֹיִם (the nations), הֲלֹ֣א (not) יוֹכִ֑יחַ (does he correct)?
הַֽמְלַמֵּ֖ד (The One teaching) אָדָ֣ם (a man), דָּֽעַת׃ (knowledge)?
11 יְֽהוָ֗ה (YHWH) יֹ֭דֵעַ (knows) מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת (the thoughts) אָדָ֑ם (of man),
כִּי־ (that) הֵ֥מָּה (they are) הָֽבֶל׃ (vapor).
12 אַשְׁרֵ֤י׀ (Blessed is) הַגֶּ֣בֶר (the man) אֲשֶׁר־ (whom) תְּיַסְּרֶ֣נּוּ (You instruct), יָּ֑הּ (O YAH),
וּֽמִתּוֹרָתְךָ֥ (from Your law) תְלַמְּדֶֽנּוּ׃ (You teach him),
13 לְהַשְׁקִ֣יט (that You may give rest) ל֭וֹ (to him) מִ֣ימֵי (from the days) רָ֑ע (of evil),
עַ֤ד (until) יִכָּרֶ֖ה (is dug) לָרָשָׁ֣ע (for the wicked) שָֽׁחַת׃ (a pit).
14 כִּ֤י׀ (For) לֹא־ (not) יִטֹּ֣שׁ (will forsake) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) עַמּ֑וֹ (His people),
וְ֝נַחֲלָת֗וֹ (and His inheritance) לֹ֣א (not) יַעֲזֹֽב׃ (will He forsake).
15 כִּֽי־ (But) עַד־ (to) צֶ֭דֶק (righteousness) יָשׁ֣וּב (will return) מִשְׁפָּ֑ט (the judgment),
וְ֝אַחֲרָ֗יו (and will follow it) כָּל־ (all) יִשְׁרֵי־ (the upright) לֵֽב׃ (of heart).
16 מִֽי־ (Who) יָק֣וּם (will rise up) לִ֭י (for me) עִם־ (against) מְרֵעִ֑ים (the evildoers)?
מִֽי־ (Who) יִתְיַצֵּ֥ב (will stand up) לִ֝י (for me) עִם־ (against) פֹּ֥עֲלֵי (the workers) אָֽוֶן׃ (of iniquity)?
17 לוּלֵ֣י (Unless) יְ֭הוָה (YHWH had been) עֶזְרָ֣תָה (the help) לִּ֑י (for me),
כִּמְעַ֓ט׀ (soon) שָֽׁכְנָ֖ה (would have dwelt) דוּמָ֣ה (in silence) נַפְשִֽׁי׃ (My soul).
18 אִם־ (When) אָ֭מַרְתִּי (I said), מָ֣טָה (Is slipping) רַגְלִ֑י (My foot),
חַסְדְּךָ֥ (Your loving devotion), יְ֝הוָ֗ה (O YHWH), יִסְעָדֵֽנִי׃ (supports me).
19 בְּרֹ֣ב (In the abundance) שַׂרְעַפַּ֣י (of my anxieties) בְּקִרְבִּ֑י (within me)
תַּ֝נְחוּמֶ֗יךָ (Your comforts) יְֽשַׁעַשְׁע֥וּ (delighted) נַפְשִֽׁי׃ (my soul).
20 הַֽ֭יְחָבְרְךָ (Can join with You) כִּסֵּ֣א (the throne) הַוּ֑וֹת (of iniquity)
יֹצֵ֖ר (one shaping) עָמָ֣ל (mischief) עֲלֵי־ (by) חֹֽק׃ (statute)?
21 יָ֭גוֹדּוּ (They band together) עַל־ (against) נֶ֣פֶשׁ (the soul) צַדִּ֑יק (of the righteous),
וְדָ֖ם (and blood) נָקִ֣י (innocent) יַרְשִֽׁיעוּ׃ (they condemn).
22 וַיְהִ֬י (And has become) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) לִ֣י (for me) לְמִשְׂגָּ֑ב (as a place up high),
וֵ֝אלֹהַ֗י (and my God) לְצ֣וּר (as the rock) מַחְסִֽי׃ (of my refuge).
23 וַיָּ֤שֶׁב (And He has turned back) עֲלֵיהֶ֨ם׀ (upon them) אֶת־ (-) אוֹנָ֗ם (their own iniquity),
וּבְרָעָתָ֥ם (and in their wickedness) יַצְמִיתֵ֑ם (He will finish them off).
יַ֝צְמִיתֵ֗ם (He will finish them off) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ (our God).
