Endow the King with Your Justice
(1 Kings 3:1–15; 2 Chronicles 1:1–13; Psalm 45:1–17)

לִשְׁלֹמֹ֨ה׀ (Of Solomon).

1אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים (O God), מִ֭שְׁפָּטֶיךָ (Your judgments) לְמֶ֣לֶךְ (to the king) תֵּ֑ן (give),

וְצִדְקָתְךָ֥ (and Your justice) לְבֶן־ (to the son) מֶֽלֶךְ׃ (of king).

2  יָדִ֣ין (He will judge) עַמְּךָ֣ (Your people) בְצֶ֑דֶק (with righteousness),

וַעֲנִיֶּ֥יךָ (and Your lowly ones) בְמִשְׁפָּֽט׃ (with judgment).

3  יִשְׂא֤וּ (Will carry) הָרִ֓ים (the mountains) שָׁ֘ל֥וֹם (peace) לָעָ֑ם (to the people),

וּ֝גְבָע֗וֹת (and the hills) בִּצְדָקָֽה׃ (justice).

4  יִשְׁפֹּ֤ט׀ (He will judge for) עֲ‍ֽנִיֵּי־ (the lowly ones) עָ֗ם (of the people);

י֭וֹשִׁיעַ (he will save) לִבְנֵ֣י (the sons) אֶבְי֑וֹן (of the needy),

וִֽידַכֵּ֣א (and will crush) עוֹשֵֽׁק׃ (the one oppressing).

5  יִֽירָא֥וּךָ (They will fear You) עִם־ (with) שָׁ֑מֶשׁ (the sun),

וְלִפְנֵ֥י (and before the face) יָ֝רֵ֗חַ (of the moon),

דּ֣וֹר (from generation)— דּוֹרִֽים׃ (to generations).

6  יֵ֭רֵד (He will come down) כְּמָטָ֣ר (like rain) עַל־ (upon) גֵּ֑ז (freshly cut grass),

כִּ֝רְבִיבִ֗ים (like showers) זַרְזִ֥יף (dropping on) אָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth).

7  יִֽפְרַח־ (Will sprout forth) בְּיָמָ֥יו (in his days) צַדִּ֑יק (the righteous),

וְרֹ֥ב (and an abundance) שָׁ֝ל֗וֹם (of peace),

עַד־ (until) בְּלִ֥י (is no more) יָרֵֽחַ׃ (the moon).

8  וְ֭יֵרְדְּ (And he will rule) מִיָּ֣ם (from sea) עַד־ (to) יָ֑ם (sea),

וּ֝מִנָּהָ֗ר (and from the River) עַד־ (to) אַפְסֵי־ (the ends) אָֽרֶץ׃ (of the earth).

9  לְ֭פָנָיו (Before him) יִכְרְע֣וּ (will bow down) צִיִּ֑ים (the desert dwellers),

וְ֝אֹיְבָ֗יו (and his enemies) עָפָ֥ר (the dust) יְלַחֵֽכוּ׃ (will lick).

10  מַלְכֵ֬י (The kings) תַרְשִׁ֣ישׁ (of Tarshish) וְ֭אִיִּים (and the isles) מִנְחָ֣ה (a gift) יָשִׁ֑יבוּ (will return);

מַלְכֵ֥י (the kings) שְׁבָ֥א (of Sheba) וּ֝סְבָ֗א (and Seba) אֶשְׁכָּ֥ר (a gift) יַקְרִֽיבוּ׃ (will bring near).

11  וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ־ (And will bow low) ל֥וֹ (before him) כָל־ (all) מְלָכִ֑ים (kings);

כָּל־ (all) גּוֹיִ֥ם (nations) יַֽעַבְדֽוּהוּ׃ (will serve him).

12  כִּֽי־ (For) יַ֭צִּיל (he will deliver) אֶבְי֣וֹן (the needy one) מְשַׁוֵּ֑עַ (crying out);

וְ֝עָנִ֗י (and the poor one) וְֽאֵין־ (without) עֹזֵ֥ר (a helper) לֽוֹ׃ (to him).

13  יָ֭חֹס (He will have pity) עַל־ (on) דַּ֣ל (the poor) וְאֶבְי֑וֹן (and needy),

וְנַפְשׁ֖וֹת (and the souls) אֶבְיוֹנִ֣ים (of the needy) יוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃ (he will save).

14  מִתּ֣וֹךְ (From oppression) וּ֭מֵחָמָס (and from violence) יִגְאַ֣ל (he will redeem) נַפְשָׁ֑ם (their soul),

וְיֵיקַ֖ר (and will be precious) דָּמָ֣ם (their blood) בְּעֵינָֽיו׃ (in his eyes).

15  וִיחִ֗י (Long may he live),

וְיִתֶּן־ (and shall be given) לוֹ֮ (to him) מִזְּהַ֪ב (from the gold) שְׁ֫בָ֥א (of Sheba);

וְיִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל (and prayer shall be made) בַּעֲד֣וֹ (for him) תָמִ֑יד (continually);

כָּל־ (all) הַ֝יּ֗וֹם (the day) יְבָרֲכֶֽנְהֽוּ׃ (he shall be blessed).

16  יְהִ֤י (There shall be) פִסַּת־ (an abundance) בַּ֨ר׀ (of grain) בָּאָרֶץ֮ (in the land);

בְּרֹ֪אשׁ (on the top) הָ֫רִ֥ים (of the mountains) יִרְעַ֣שׁ (shall wave)

כַּלְּבָנ֣וֹן (like Lebanon) פִּרְי֑וֹ (its fruit);

וְיָצִ֥יצוּ (and shall flourish) מֵ֝עִ֗יר (the people of the city) כְּעֵ֣שֶׂב (like the grass) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (of the earth).

17  יְהִ֤י (Shall be) שְׁמ֨וֹ (his name) לְֽעוֹלָ֗ם (forever);

לִפְנֵי־ (unto the turning) שֶׁמֶשׁ֮ (of the sun) יָנִין (shall increase) שְׁ֫מ֥וֹ (his name)

וְיִתְבָּ֥רְכוּ (and shall be blessed) ב֑וֹ (in him) כָּל־ (all) גּוֹיִ֥ם (nations);

יְאַשְּׁרֽוּהוּ׃ (they shall call him blessed).

18  בָּר֤וּךְ׀ (Blessed be) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) אֱ֭לֹהִים (God), אֱלֹהֵ֣י (the God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel),

עֹשֵׂ֖ה (the One doing) נִפְלָא֣וֹת (marvelous deeds)— לְבַדּֽוֹ׃ (Him alone).

19  וּבָר֤וּךְ׀ (And blessed be) שֵׁ֥ם (the name) כְּבוֹד֗וֹ (of His glory) לְע֫וֹלָ֥ם (forever); וְיִמָּלֵ֣א (and let be filled)

כְ֭בוֹדוֹ (with His glory) אֶת־ (-) כֹּ֥ל (all) הָאָ֗רֶץ (the earth).

אָ֘מֵ֥ן׀ (Amen) וְאָמֵֽן׃ (and Amen).

20  כָּלּ֥וּ (Have come to an end) תְפִלּ֑וֹת (the prayers) דָּ֝וִ֗ד (of David) בֶּן־ (son) יִשָֽׁי׃ (of Jesse).
