God of vengeance, LORD God of vengeance, display your splendor! O LORD, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth! The LORD is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth.
Stand up, judge of the earth, and repay the proud. Rise up, O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve! Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.
How long will the wicked, LORD, how long will the wicked continue to triumph? O LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult? How long, LORD, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant?
When they speak, they spew arrogance. Everyone who practices iniquity brags about it. They pour out their arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.
LORD, they have crushed your people, afflicting your heritage. They crush your people, O LORD, and afflict your heritage. They crush your people, LORD; they oppress your inheritance.
The wicked kill widows and foreigners; they murder orphans. They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless; They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.
They say, |The LORD cannot see, and the God of Jacob will not notice.| and they say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob does not perceive.” They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice.”
Pay attention, you dull ones among the crowds! You fools! Will you ever become wise? Understand, O dullest of the people! Fools, when will you be wise? Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?
The one who formed the ear can hear, can he not? The one who made the eyes can see, can he not? He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see? Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
The one who disciplines nations can rebuke them, can he not? The one who teaches mankind can discern, can he not? He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke? He who teaches man knowledge— Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
The LORD knows the thoughts of human beings— that they are futile. the LORD—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath. The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.
How blessed is the man whom you instruct, LORD, whom you teach from your Law, Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O LORD, and whom you teach out of your law, Blessed is the one you discipline, LORD, the one you teach from your law;
keeping him calm when times are troubled until a pit has been dug for the wicked. to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. you grant them relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.
For the LORD will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage. For the LORD will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage; For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
Righteousness will be restored with justice, and all the pure of heart will follow it. for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it. Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand for me against those who practice iniquity? Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers? Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
If the LORD had not been my helper, I would have quickly become silent. If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
When I say that my foot is shaking, your gracious love, LORD, will sustain me. When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up. When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, LORD, supported me.
When my anxious inner thoughts become overwhelming, your comfort encourages me. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Will destructive national leaders, who plan wicked things through misuse of the Law, be allied with you? Can wicked rulers be allied with you, those who frame injustice by statute? Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?
They gather together against the righteous, condemning the innocent to death. They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD is my stronghold, and my God, the rock, is my refuge. But the LORD has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge. But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
He will repay them for their sin; he will annihilate them because of their evil. The LORD our God will annihilate them. He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the LORD our God will wipe them out. He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.
