1 For the one directing. To “Do not Destroy.” Of David. A Miktam in his fleeing from the face of Saul in the cave. Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me! For in You my soul takes refuge, and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until the calamities have passed by. Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam. When he had fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
2 I will call out to El-Elyon, to God, who fulfills for me. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me.
3 He sends forth from the heavens, and saves me; He rebukes the one panting after me. Selah God sends forth His loving devotion and His faithfulness. He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness! He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me— God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.
4 My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down among flames—the sons of men, their teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue is a sharp sword. 6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bent down; they have dug before me a pit—may they fall into its midst! Selah They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. 9 I will confess You among the peoples, O Lord; I will make music to You among the nations. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For Your loving devotion reaches to the heavens, and Your faithfulness to the clouds. For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be lifted high above the heavens, O God, and above all the earth Your glory! Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
