1	For the Chief Musician. By David the servant of Yahweh, who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said, I love you, Yahweh, my strength.	I love you, O LORD, my strength.	For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength.
2	Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.	The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.	The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3	I call on Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies.	I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.	I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.
4	The cords of death surrounded me. The floods of ungodliness made me afraid.	The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of destruction assailed me;	The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
5	The cords of Sheol were around me. The snares of death came on me.	the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.	The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.
6	In my distress I called on Yahweh, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.	In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.	In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
7	Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations also of the mountains quaked and were shaken, because he was angry.	Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry.	The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry.
8	Smoke went out of his nostrils. Consuming fire came out of his mouth. Coals were kindled by it.	Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him.	Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it.
9	He bowed the heavens also, and came down. Thick darkness was under his feet.	He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet.	He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet.
10	He rode on a cherub, and flew. Yes, he soared on the wings of the wind.	He rode on a cherub and flew; he came swiftly on the wings of the wind.	He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.
11	He made darkness his hiding place, his pavilion around him, darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.	He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water.	He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him— the dark rain clouds of the sky.
12	At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, hailstones and coals of fire.	Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds.	Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning.
13	Yahweh also thundered in the sky. The Most High uttered his voice: hailstones and coals of fire.	The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire.	The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.
14	He sent out his arrows, and scattered them. He routed them with great lightning bolts.	And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.	He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy, with great bolts of lightning he routed them.
15	Then the channels of waters appeared. The foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, Yahweh, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.	Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.	The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils.
16	He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters.	He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters.	He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.
17	He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me.	He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.	He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.
18	They came on me in the day of my calamity, but Yahweh was my support.	They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support.	They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.
19	He brought me out also into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me.	He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.	He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
20	Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands, he has recompensed me.	The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.	The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.
21	For I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and have not wickedly departed from my God.	For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.	For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I am not guilty of turning from my God.
22	For all his ordinances were before me. I didn’t put away his statutes from me.	For all his rules were before me, and his statutes I did not put away from me.	All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees.
23	I was also blameless with him. I kept myself from my iniquity.	I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt.	I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin.
24	Therefore Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.	So the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.	The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.
25	With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man, you will show yourself perfect.	With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless;	To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless,
26	With the pure, you will show yourself pure. With the crooked you will show yourself shrewd.	with the purified you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.	to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.
27	For you will save the afflicted people, but the arrogant eyes you will bring down.	For you save a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down.	You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
28	For you will light my lamp, Yahweh. My God will light up my darkness.	For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness.	You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
29	For by you, I advance through a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall.	For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.	With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.
30	As for God, his way is perfect. Yahweh’s word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.	This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.	As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
31	For who is God, except Yahweh? Who is a rock, besides our God,	For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?—	For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?
32	the God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect?	the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless.	It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.
33	He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and sets me on my high places.	He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.	He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.
34	He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms bend a bow of bronze.	He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.	He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35	You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great.	You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.	You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.
36	You have enlarged my steps under me, My feet have not slipped.	You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.	You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way.
37	I will pursue my enemies, and overtake them. I won’t turn away until they are consumed.	I pursued my enemies and overtook them, and did not turn back till they were consumed.	I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed.
38	I will strike them through, so that they will not be able to rise. They shall fall under my feet.	I thrust them through, so that they were not able to rise; they fell under my feet.	I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet.
39	For you have armed me with strength to the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.	For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.	You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me.
40	You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.	You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and those who hated me I destroyed.	You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes.
41	They cried, but there was no one to save; even to Yahweh, but he didn’t answer them.	They cried for help, but there was none to save; they cried to the LORD, but he did not answer them.	They cried for help, but there was no one to save them— to the LORD, but he did not answer.
42	Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind. I cast them out as the mire of the streets.	I beat them fine as dust before the wind; I cast them out like the mire of the streets.	I beat them as fine as windblown dust; I trampled them like mud in the streets.
43	You have delivered me from the strivings of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known shall serve me.	You delivered me from strife with the people; you made me the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me.	You have delivered me from the attacks of the people; you have made me the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me,
44	As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me. The foreigners shall submit themselves to me.	As soon as they heard of me they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me.	foreigners cower before me; as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.
45	The foreigners shall fade away, and shall come trembling out of their strongholds.	Foreigners lost heart and came trembling out of their fortresses.	They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds.
46	Yahweh lives! Blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation,	The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation—	The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!
47	even the God who executes vengeance for me, and subdues peoples under me.	the God who gave me vengeance and subdued peoples under me,	He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me,
48	He rescues me from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent man.	who rescued me from my enemies; yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me; you delivered me from the man of violence.	who saves me from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from a violent man you rescued me.
49	Therefore I will give thanks to you, Yahweh, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name.	For this I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations, and sing to your name.	Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.
50	He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his offspring, forever more.	Great salvation he brings to his king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and his offspring forever.	He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.
