For the choir director. Of the servant of Yahweh, of David, who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said, “I love You, O Yahweh, my strength.” I love you, O LORD, my strength. For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength.
Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I call upon Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.
The cords of death encompassed me, And the torrents of vileness terrified me. The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of destruction assailed me; The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
The cords of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I called upon Yahweh, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears. In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
Then the earth shook and quaked; And the foundations of the mountains were trembling And were shaken, because He was angry. Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry.
Smoke went up out of His nostrils, And fire from His mouth devoured; Coals were kindled by it. Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it.
He bowed the heavens and came down With thick darkness under His feet. He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet.
He rode upon a cherub and flew; And He sped upon the wings of the wind. He rode on a cherub and flew; he came swiftly on the wings of the wind. He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.
He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water. He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him— the dark rain clouds of the sky.
From the brightness before Him passed His thick clouds, Hailstones and coals of fire. Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds. Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning.
Yahweh also thundered in the heavens, And the Most High gave forth His voice, Hailstones and coals of fire. The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire. The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.
He sent out His arrows, and scattered them, And lightning flashes in abundance, and threw them into confusion. And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them. He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy, with great bolts of lightning he routed them.
Then the channels of water appeared, And the foundations of the world were laid bare At Your rebuke, O Yahweh, At the blast of the breath of Your nostrils. Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils.
He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters. He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, And from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster, But Yahweh was my support. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.
He brought me forth also into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me. He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me. The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me. The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.
For I have kept the ways of Yahweh, And have not wickedly departed from my God. For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I am not guilty of turning from my God.
For all His judgments were before me, And I did not put away His statutes from me. For all his rules were before me, and his statutes I did not put away from me. All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees.
I was also blameless with Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity. I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt. I have been blameless before him and have kept myself from sin.
Therefore Yahweh has recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands before His eyes. So the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.
With the kind You show Yourself kind; With the blameless You show Yourself blameless; With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless; To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless,
With the pure You show Yourself pure, And with the crooked You show Yourself astute. with the purified you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous. to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.
For You save an afflicted people, But eyes which are lifted up, You bring down. For you save a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.
For You light my lamp; Yahweh my God illumines my darkness. For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness. You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
For by You I can run upon a troop; And by my God I can leap over a wall. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.
As for God, His way is blameless; The word of Yahweh is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
For who is God, but Yahweh? And who is a rock, except our God, For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?— For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?
The God who girds me with strength And makes my way blameless? the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless. It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.
He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, And sets me upon my high places. He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.
He trains my hands for battle, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds me; And Your gentleness makes me great. You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.
You enlarge my steps under me, And my ankles have not given way. You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip. You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way.
I pursued my enemies and overtook them, And I did not turn back until they were consumed. I pursued my enemies and overtook them, and did not turn back till they were consumed. I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed.
I crushed them, so that they were not able to rise; They fell under my feet. I thrust them through, so that they were not able to rise; they fell under my feet. I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet.
For You have girded me with strength for battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me. You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me.
You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, And I destroyed those who hated me. You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and those who hated me I destroyed. You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes.
They cried for help, but there was none to save, Even to Yahweh, but He did not answer them. They cried for help, but there was none to save; they cried to the LORD, but he did not answer them. They cried for help, but there was no one to save them— to the LORD, but he did not answer.
Then I beat them fine as the dust before the wind; I emptied them out as the mire of the streets. I beat them fine as dust before the wind; I cast them out like the mire of the streets. I beat them as fine as windblown dust; I trampled them like mud in the streets.
You have delivered me from the contentions of the people; You have placed me as head of the nations; A people whom I have not known serve me. You delivered me from strife with the people; you made me the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me. You have delivered me from the attacks of the people; you have made me the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me,
As soon as they hear, they obey me; Foreigners cower before me. As soon as they heard of me they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me. foreigners cower before me; as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.
Foreigners fade away, And come trembling out of their fortresses. Foreigners lost heart and came trembling out of their fortresses. They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds.
Yahweh lives, and blessed be my rock; And let the God of my salvation be lifted high, The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation— The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!
The God who executes vengeance for me, And subdues peoples under me. the God who gave me vengeance and subdued peoples under me, He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me,
Who delivers me from my enemies; Surely You lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man. who rescued me from my enemies; yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me; you delivered me from the man of violence. who saves me from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from a violent man you rescued me.
Therefore I will give thanks to You among the nations, O Yahweh, And I will sing praises to Your name. For this I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations, and sing to your name. Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.
He gives great salvation to His king, And shows lovingkindness to His anointed, To David and his seed forever. Great salvation he brings to his king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and his offspring forever. He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.
