Καὶ εὐθὺς ἦν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ αὐτῶν ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ καὶ ἀνέκραξεν | And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, | Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, |
λέγων Τί ἡμῖν καὶ σοί Ἰησοῦ Ναζαρηνέ ἦλθες ἀπολέσαι ἡμᾶς οἶδά σε τίς εἶ ὁ Ἅγιος τοῦ Θεοῦ | “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” | “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” |
Καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ‹λέγων› Φιμώθητι καὶ ἔξελθε ἐξ αὐτοῦ | But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” | “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” |
καὶ σπαράξαν αὐτὸν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον καὶ φωνῆσαν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ἐξῆλθεν ἐξ αὐτοῦ | And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. | The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. |
Καὶ ἐθαμβήθησαν ἅπαντες ὥστε ‹συζητεῖν πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς› λέγοντας Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο διδαχὴ καινή κατ’ ἐξουσίαν καὶ τοῖς πνεύμασι τοῖς ἀκαθάρτοις ἐπιτάσσει καὶ ὑπακούουσιν αὐτῷ | And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” | The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” |
