1	And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through corn-fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and ate, rubbing them in their hands.	On a Sabbath, while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands.	One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.
2	And certain of the Pharisees said to them, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath-days?	But some of the Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?”	Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”
3	And Jesus answering them, said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was hungry, and they who were with him;	And Jesus answered them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:	Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?
4	How he went into the house of God, and took and ate the show-bread, and gave also to them that were with him, which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?	how he entered the house of God and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?”	He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”
5	And he said to them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.	And he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”	Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
6	And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered:	On another Sabbath, he entered the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered.	On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled.
7	And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him.	And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse him.	The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.
8	But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, Rise, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose, and stood forth.	But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there.	But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there.
9	Then said Jesus to them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath-days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?	And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?”	Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”
10	And looking around upon them all, he said to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.	And after looking around at them all he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored.	He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored.
11	And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.	But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.	But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.
12	And it came to pass in those days, that he went out to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.	In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.	One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

20	And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. 21	Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
23	Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers to the prophets.	Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.	“Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.
24	But woe to you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.	“But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.	“But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
25	Woe to you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe to you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.	“Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. “Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.	Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
26	Woe to you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.	“Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.	Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
27	But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to them who hate you,	“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,	“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28	Bless them that curse you, and pray for them who despitefully use you.	bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.	bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
29	And to him that smiteth thee on the one cheek, offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke, forbid not to take thy coat also.	To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.	If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.
30	Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again.	Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.	Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
31	And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.	And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.	Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32	For if ye love them who love you, what thanks have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.	“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.	“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.
33	And if ye do good to them who do good to you, what thanks have ye? for sinners also do even the same.	And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.	And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.
34	And if ye lend to them from whom ye hope to receive, what thanks have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much in return.	And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.	And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.
35	But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.	But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.	But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
36	Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.	Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.	Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
37	Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:	“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;	“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38	Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye give to others, it shall be measured to you again.	give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”	Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
39	And he spoke a parable to them; Can the blind lead the blind? will they not both fall into the ditch?	He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?	He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?
40	The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect, shall be as his master.	A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.	The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.
41	And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thy own eye?	Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?	“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
42	Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thy eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thy own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thy own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.	How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.	How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
43	For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.	“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit,	“No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.
44	For every tree is known by its own fruit: for from thorns men do not gather figs, nor from a bramble bush do they gather grapes.	for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.	Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.
45	A good man out of the good treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is evil: for from the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.	The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.	A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
46	And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?	“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?	“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
47	Whoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like.	Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:	As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.
48	He is like a man who built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.	he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.	They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
49	But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that, without a foundation, built a house on the earth, against which the stream beat vehemently, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.	But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”	But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
