1 Some time later God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he answered. After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, <i>here</i> I <i>am</i>. Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied.
2 “Take your son,” God said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” And he said, Take now thy son, thine only <i>son</i> Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.” Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
3 So Abraham got up early the next morning, saddled his donkey, and took along two of his servants and his son Isaac. He split the wood for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had designated. So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. So Abraham got up early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and his son Isaac; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and set out and went to the place of which God had told him. Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.
4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
5 “Stay here with the donkey,” Abraham told his servants. “The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will return to you.” Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.” And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the boy will go over there; and we will worship and return to you.” He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”
6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac. He himself carried the fire and the sacrificial knife, and the two of them walked on together. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid <i>it</i> upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So the two of them walked on together. 7 Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” “Here I am, my son,” he replied. “The fire and the wood are here,” said Isaac, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here <i>am</i> I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where <i>is</i> the lamb for a burnt offering? Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
8 Abraham answered, “God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two walked on together. Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together. And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them walked on together. Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.
9 When they arrived at the place God had designated, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, atop the wood. When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him,” said the angel, “for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me. He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only <i>son</i> from me. He said, “Do not reach out your hand against the boy, and do not do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
13 Then Abraham looked up and saw behind him a ram in a thicket, caught by its horns. So he went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son. And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind <i>him</i> a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind <i>him was</i> a ram caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering in the place of his son. Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.
14 And Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. So to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said <i>to</i> this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. And Abraham named that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time, And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven, The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time
16 saying, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your only son, and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only <i>son</i>: and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, and said, “I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,
17 I will surely bless you, and I will multiply your descendants like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies. I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which <i>is</i> upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand, which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,
18 And through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
19 Abraham went back to his servants, and they got up and set out together for Beersheba. And Abraham settled in Beersheba. So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham lived at Beersheba. So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba. So Abraham returned to his young men, and they got up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham lived in Beersheba. Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set off together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.
20 Some time later, Abraham was told, “Milcah has also borne sons to your brother Nahor: Now after these things it was told to Abraham, “Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor; Now it came about after these things, that Abraham was told, saying, “Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: Some time later Abraham was told, “Milkah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor:
21 Uz the firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel (the father of Aram), Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram, Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram), Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram),

23 And Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milcah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor. (Bethuel fathered Rebekah.) These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother. And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother. and <i>it was</i> Bethuel <i>who</i> fathered Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother. Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milkah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.
24 Moreover, Nahor’s concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah. Moreover, his concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah. And his concubine, whose name <i>was</i> Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah. His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also gave birth to Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
