1 And YHWH said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for by a mighty hand he will send them out, and by a mighty hand he will drive them out from his land.” But the LORD said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand he will send them out, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”
2 And God spoke to Moses, and He said to him, “I am YHWH, God spoke to Moses and said to him, “I am the LORD. God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
3 and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai; and by My name YHWH I was not known to them. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them.
4 And also I have established My covenant with them, to give to them the land of Canaan, the land of their sojourning, in which they sojourned. I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners. I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners.
5 And also I have heard the groaning of the sons of Israel whom Egypt is making serve, and I have remembered My covenant. Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
6 Therefore say to the sons of Israel, ‘I am YHWH, and I will bring you⁺ out from under the burdens of Egypt, and I will deliver you⁺ from their service, and I will redeem you⁺ with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
7 And I will take you⁺ to Me for a people, and I will be to you⁺ for God; and you⁺ shall know that I am YHWH your⁺ God, the One bringing you⁺ out from under the burdens of Egypt. I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
8 And I will bring you⁺ into the land that I lifted up my hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And I will give it to you⁺ as a possession. I am YHWH!’” I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the LORD.’” And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’”
9 And Moses spoke in this way to the sons of Israel, and they did not listen to Moses, from shortness of spirit and from hard service. Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery. Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor.
10 And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, So the LORD said to Moses, Then the LORD said to Moses,
11 “Go in, tell to Pharaoh king of Egypt and he shall send out the sons of Israel from his land.” “Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the people of Israel go out of his land.” “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”
12 And Moses spoke before the face of YHWH, saying, “Behold, the sons of Israel have not listened to me; and how shall Pharaoh listen to me, and I am uncircumcised of lips?” But Moses said to the LORD, “Behold, the people of Israel have not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?” But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?”
13 And YHWH spoke to Moses and to Aaron and He gave them a command toward the sons of Israel and toward Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt. But the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge about the people of Israel and about Pharaoh king of Egypt: to bring the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt. Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.
14 These are the heads of the houses of their fathers: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These are the clans of Reuben. These are the heads of their fathers’ houses: the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi; these are the clans of Reuben. These were the heads of their families: The sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanok and Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. These were the clans of Reuben.
15 And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul son of the Canaanitess. These are the clans of Simeon. The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the clans of Simeon. The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.
16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were seven and thirty and a hundred years. These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari, the years of the life of Levi being 137 years. These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years.
17 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, according to their clans. The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, by their clans. The sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei.
18 And the sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel. And the years of the life of Kohath were three and thirty and a hundred years. The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, the years of the life of Kohath being 133 years. The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years.
19 And the sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi according to their generations. The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites according to their generations. The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi according to their records.
20 And Amram took Jochebed his father’s sister for himself for a wife, and she bore to him Aaron and Moses. And the years of the life of Amram were seven and thirty and a hundred years. Amram took as his wife Jochebed his father’s sister, and she bore him Aaron and Moses, the years of the life of Amram being 137 years. Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years.
21 And the sons of Izhar: Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri. The sons of Izhar: Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri. The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg and Zikri.
22 And the sons of Uzziel: Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Sithri. The sons of Uzziel: Mishael, Elzaphan, and Sithri. The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri.
23 And Aaron took Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Nahshon, to himself for a wife. And she bore to him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. Aaron took as his wife Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab and the sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
24 And the sons of Korah: Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These are the clans of the Korahite. The sons of Korah: Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph; these are the clans of the Korahites. The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans.
25 And Eleazar son of Aaron took for himself one of the daughters of Putiel to him for a wife, and she bore to him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their clans. Eleazar, Aaron’s son, took as his wife one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites by their clans. Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan.
26 It was this Aaron and Moses to whom YHWH said, “Bring out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, according to their hosts.” These are the Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said: “Bring out the people of Israel from the land of Egypt by their hosts.” It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions.”
27 They are the ones speaking to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the sons of Israel from Egypt, this Moses and Aaron. It was they who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing out the people of Israel from Egypt, this Moses and this Aaron. They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt—this same Moses and Aaron.
28 And it came to pass on the day that YHWH spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, On the day when the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, Now when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt,
29 that YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, “I am YHWH; speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I am speaking to you.” the LORD said to Moses, “I am the LORD; tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say to you.” he said to him, “I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”
30 And Moses said before the face of YHWH, “Behold, I am uncircumcised of lips, and how will Pharaoh listen to me?” But Moses said to the LORD, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips. How will Pharaoh listen to me?” But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
