1	Now a certain man in Caesarea named Cornelius was a centurion of the cohort that is called Italian,	At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort,	At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment.
2	devout and fearing God with all his household, doing many alms to the people and praying to God through all.	a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.	He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
3	He saw clearly in a vision, as it was about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God having come to him and having said to him, “Cornelius!”	About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him, “Cornelius.”	One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!”
4	And having looked intently at him, and having become afraid, he said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.	And he stared at him in terror and said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.	Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.
5	And now send men to Joppa and summon a certain Simon, who is called Peter.	And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter.	Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.
6	He lodges with a certain Simon, a tanner whose house is by the sea.”	He is lodging with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.”	He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
7	And when the angel speaking to him went away, having called two of the servants and a devout soldier of those attending him,	When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him,	When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.

10	And he became hungry and desired to eat. 13	And a voice came to him: “Having risen up, Peter, kill and eat!”	And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”	Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
14	But Peter said, “In no way, Lord! For never have I eaten anything common or unclean.”	But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”	“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
15	And a voice came again to him for the second time: “What God has cleansed, you do not call common.”	And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.”	The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
16	Now this took place for three times, and immediately the vessel was taken up into heaven.	This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.	This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
17	And while Peter was perplexed in himself as to what the vision that he had seen might be, behold, the men having been sent from Cornelius, having inquired for the house of Simon, stood at the gate.	Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood at the gate	While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon’s house was and stopped at the gate.
18	And having called out, they were asking if Simon who is called Peter is lodged here.	and called out to ask whether Simon who was called Peter was lodging there.	They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.
19	And of Peter thinking over the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you.	And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you.	While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three men are looking for you.
20	But having risen, go down and proceed with them, doubting nothing, because I have sent them.”	Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation, for I have sent them.”	So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.”
21	And Peter, having gone down to the men, said, “Behold, I am whom you⁺ seek; what is the cause for which you⁺ are here?”	And Peter went down to the men and said, “I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason for your coming?”	Peter went down and said to the men, “I’m the one you’re looking for. Why have you come?”
22	And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God—and being well testified to by all the nation of the Jews—was divinely instructed by a holy angel to send for you to his house and to hear a message from you.”	And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.”	The men replied, “We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to ask you to come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say.”
23	Therefore, having called them in, he lodged them. And on the next day, having risen up, he went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went with him.	So he invited them in to be his guests. The next day he rose and went away with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.	Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests. The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the believers from Joppa went along.
24	And on the next day, he entered into Caesarea. Now Cornelius was expecting them, having called together his relatives and close friends.	And on the following day they entered Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.	The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
25	And as Peter was entering, Cornelius, having met him, having fallen at his feet, worshiped him.	When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.	As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence.
26	But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Rise up, I myself am also a man.”	But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am a man.”	But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”
27	And talking with him, he entered, and he finds many having gathered together.	And as he talked with him, he went in and found many persons gathered.	While talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people.
28	And he was saying to them, “You⁺ know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to unite himself or to come near to a foreigner. But God showed to me not to call a man common or unclean.	And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.	He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.
29	Therefore also without objection I came, having been summoned. I ask, therefore for what reason did you⁺ summon me?”	So when I was sent for, I came without objection. I ask then why you sent for me.”	So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?”
30	And Cornelius was saying, “Four days ago until this hour, the ninth hour, I was praying in my house; and behold, a man in bright apparel stood before me,	And Cornelius said, “Four days ago, about this hour, I was praying in my house at the ninth hour, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing	Cornelius answered: “Three days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me
31	and he said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer was heard, and your alms have been remembered before God.	and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.	and said, ‘Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor.
32	Therefore send to Joppa and call for Simon, who is called Peter; he lodges in the house of Simon, a tanner by the sea.’	Send therefore to Joppa and ask for Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea.’	Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.’
33	Therefore I sent to you at once, and you did well, having come. Now, therefore, we are all present before God to hear all the things having been commanded you by the Lord.”	So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”	So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.”
34	And Peter, having opened the mouth, said, “Of a truth I understand that God is not One who shows partiality,	So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,	Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism
35	but in every nation the one fearing Him and working righteousness is acceptable to Him,	but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.	but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.
36	the word that He sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the gospel, peace by Jesus Christ—this One is Lord of all.	As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all),	You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
37	You⁺ yourselves know the declaration having come through all Judea, having begun from Galilee, after the baptism that John proclaimed:	you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed:	You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached—
38	Jesus from Nazareth—how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power—who went about doing good and healing all those being oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.	how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. 41	not to all the people, but to the witnesses having been chosen beforehand by God, to us who ate and drank with Him after His rising out from the dead.	not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.	He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
42	And He instructed us to proclaim to the people and to testify fully that He is the One having been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.	And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 44	Peter still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those hearing the word.	While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.	While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
45	And the believers from the circumcision, as many as had come with Peter, were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit has been poured out even on the Gentiles.	And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.	The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.
46	For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,	For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared,	For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,
47	“Is anyone able to withhold the water to baptize these who have received the Holy Spirit just as we also have?”	“Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”	“Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.”
48	And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain some days.	And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.	So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.
